    FML - Event #30: $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em (Event I put Garrett in)

I proposed putting Garrett into event #30 after a few drinks and the next day regretted making the commitment. But I said I would so whatever. It was only 1000 bucks and maybe he would luck box to some money. So I put Garrett into this event and he busted out. No big deal. He did what he said he was going to do .

The day after I made this commitment to Garrett a friend of mind approached me about staking another guy in the same event and two more events after (for 50 percent). Since I most likely had already essentially lit 1000 dollars with the Garrett stake I didnt want to blow any more money putting this guy in the same event.

The guy cashed early this AM in 3rd place in the same event I put Garrett in for 152k....... I know...... Should have, could have, would have, but I am positive if I didnt put Garrett in i would have put this guy in.

So that is my pretty good bad beat story of the day

btw, driving to Vegas I came across what seems to be some kind of Human harvesting machine from the future. wtf is this?

I was actually thinking about this last night. It probably would have made more sense to have him play the monster stack than the 1k, but c'est la vie.

Can't really tell what picture is it's a bit too blurry but almost looks like a flare probably for mines or something of the sort.

EDIT: Saw Sonatine's post. It does look more reflective than fire. I'd have to second his opinion.

Unlucky. Putting someone into one of these events at 50/50 is still a bad investment though. 80/20 profit split in favor of the backer seems about right if the horse is good.

Depends on who the player is, you want 80/20 of Garrett, or 20/80 of Ivey?

Actually he was going to put up the other half. My investment would have been 500 so it stings even more..

He wasnt going to mark it up at all. He just didnt want to fire the whole buy in on 3 events.

I'd take 80/20 of Garrett every day. Not that I think it would be profitable, just a bit less -ev than 20/80 Ivey - but I happen to think that Ivey is well overrated too.

What kind of tool is putting up half the buy in and only getting 50 percent? Is that really how bad the market has gotten? I hope 100/0 stakes aren't normal.

I think it is more common than you may think especially if you they are doing a lot of events. I have had 3 other people offer me the same terms and turned them down because I was already invested in other deals with the same terms.

Someone who considers themselves to be b/e, or, if they desperately need the investment and are willing to sacrifice some of their roi as a winning player.

100/0 doesn't exist in the buying & selling marketplace; however, it does exist in long term backing arrangements when the horse gets deep into make-up. When you think about it, a horse might be 100k in the hole but is only playing an mtt schedule where top prize is say $50k.

Chaos theory would dictate that should you have staked the other player, the small change in actions would completely changed the tournament results, and garrett would still be a faggot.

If Garrett had any sort of honor as a man, he would pay cmoney his $76,000 cut which would of came his way if it wasn't for him and his misplaced ego.

So to clear your conscience, it will be $63 per week for the next 23 years.

    What say you, Garrett?

cmoney, figure this out yet? I was FLYING in and thought...OMG, what the hell is that? It was probably about 60 miles away in the bright daylight and you could see that there was three distinctive lights "ON". I couldn't help but think that was something in Area 51...but I guess if you were driving by it, it wasn't...
