    I did 6 / 5,8 exactas for $100 a piece.

If it hits 6/8 probably pays for a WSOP buyin
Thanks for that thought. I backed up my field bet with the 5/6 exacta box.

Do not take my advice on horse racing in the future.

I would never put $ on it. Even though sports are just as rigged at times

Materiality, second through most of the race, fell apart at the end. American Pharoah really just smoked them all at the end.

Still, as a 3/5 favorite, nobody can say they're surprised here.

Not that this matters in any way other than from a historical perspective, Secretariat would have won yesterday's race by 17 lengths.

That just shows how good Sec was

A more relevant thing to say is, that was like the 5th or 6th fastest time in Belmont history yesterday.

Also his fastest quarter mile was the last quarter which means he probably could have gone even faster of necessay.

Will be interesting to see if he runs in the BC Classic or if he is done.

Have to disagree as there hasn't been a triple crown winner in over 30 years. The deck is stacked against a horse being able to pull this off in todays era. The reason being that a triple crown winner has to run 3 races in a short period of time with the wear and tear of travel etc. This is not the case for a lot of the horses after the derby as they are brought in to specifically thwart a triple crown winner. A lot of the horses in preakness and belmont didn't run in the Kentucky derby and are fresh which is a huge advantage. It was an incredible feat for AP to pull it off and he did it like a champ leading the belmont from start to finish. Amazing.

Im not a horse racing fanatic or anything, so I will defer to the experts. But I've heard this line of thinking over the last week a ton, about some of the horses being "fresher." I just dont buy it. There is two weeks between races. Are you telling me that these #worldclass horses dont 100% recover from a 2 or 3 minute run after 2 full weeks of treatment and rest? Seems pretty absurd to me. I mean its not like they are running 30 miles or something. Its a dead sprint for a few minutes. I could go outside right now and dead sprint for 2 minutes or so and cover around a half mile. I could go out tomorrow and do the same thing again, same time and distance.
It's hilarious that we as a society think everyone can be a dr, a lawyer, an engineer. Some people are just fucking stupid. Why can't we just accept that?

When you roll out of bed and run you don't have to run a speed down to a fraction of a second though. To do this the horses have to train in between the races. They are not just running 3 races within a short period of time. Injuries have derailed a few horses that won the first 2 legs. Something like 3 horses since affirmed last won have run in all 3 legs. Plus don't forget the stress of all the interviews and photo ops, the medias constant attention is very taxing on the poor horseys.

When you get paid at least $1 million to have the Burger King mascot sit next to you, you can't lose.

If I was one of 12 retiring horses that day that did not win the Belmont Stakes, seeing The Burger King in the stands would make me hella nervous.
