Can American Pharoah pull it off?

We haven't had a Triple Crown winner since 1978 Affirmed. American Pharaohs father (Pioneer of the Nile) had the derby won leading by 5lengths coming for home only to be noesed at the wire. A few short years later his son whos breeding rights have already been sold for $20,000,000 has a great chance. American Pharaohs going up against a bunch of fresh horses we have seen a few horses pull off the first two races of the Triple Crown and not be able to close the deal at the Belmont. Big Brown and Fusaichi Pegasus had Bryce Harper style hype but American Pharoah is flying under the radar. So I would expect he wins the triple crown and has movies made about him for years despite not being culturally significant.

AP's furlong times are ahead of every other horses. If his handlers treat him well he really can beat the field. He is probably one of the only horses who many people want to see fail, that actually does not.

I would be betting for leverage, at least, on AP!

Betting American Pharoe for 'Leverage' is, just scattering that horse in your tri (three?) fecta.

He is clearly a top 3 horse in that field. Leverage tri fectas with the, American Pharoe......

Duhhhh I was always told to not think out loud, sorry folks...

This horse can do it. He is no guarantee of course, but he has a way better chance than any of the others for a long time. Only horse I can recall with a chance as good as his that did not do it was Spectacular Bid.

If he doesn't do it, the only others I could possibly see being there have to be either Frosted or Materiality. The top three tower over the rest of the field. Pikers from the rest of the field will only clunk into the trifecta if one or more of the top three just dont run their race for whatever reason.

Any chance the Bush family has any ties to this horse and it's predecessors?

The name (American Pharoah) conjures up thoughts of hypocrisy the "thought police" and strangely, Plentywood, Montana.

ZAyats, not the next door, North American surname, if that is what ZAyats represents.

Owning anything considered respectable never hurts, even a beer company, but his Egyptian roots are showing through and he should be De-loussed at the first airport he arrives at.

Still nothing hiding in the Bushes?

Attendance is capped at 90,000 have to get tickets prior to event, no tickets being sold at gates. They where swamped like a taffart bar rescue last year. Would be nice to get a triple crown finally.

A Triple Crown winner will probably happen again someday but not today.

The reason that the Belmont is so hard to win is that it is one and a half miles instead of one and a quarter.
American Pharoah also must race against fresh horses that didn't race in the Kentucky Derby or the Phreakness, which makes a triple crown win almost impossible.

American Pharoah has a shot at winning the triple crown but must have a perfect race to win.

I'm probably going to play some Exacta's and Trifecta's with American Pharoah coming in second or third place.

I put 6 and 8 up top and put everyone else but AP in a Tri Box. Cost me $120 but if AP breaks a leg I have a real shot at a nice payout.

    I did 6 / 5,8 exactas for $100 a piece.

If it hits 6/8 probably pays for a WSOP buyin

Maybe not a Main Event buy in, but for sure any $5k buy in with travel expenses covered.

I think it is a pretty shrewd bet. You may want to make a small ($20) 8-6 exacta. If it comes in that way, it will pay very healthy and you will be punishing yourself for being so close to a great score and coming up empty handed. If AP runs his race, the only ones that can go with him are the 6 and 8.

    6/8 probably pays like 1500
    6/5 guessing pays like 800

I miscalculated before. My guess now is that the 6-8 should pay around $40 or so which would be $2k to you. The 6-5 probably pays like you guess here. I would still do something, even if small on the 8-6 just as sanity insurance. You don't want your sanity to get 86'ed.

Well, I just bet on every other horse to win. (Anyone else do this anti-TC sweat?) AP probably wins it. Despite my contrarian gamble, I think this field is softer than the other recent TC hopefuls had to fade.
