I don't get the last part of this comment; why would Limit Holdem be any different than other forms of poker (or online for that matter) in terms of profit? Unless you don't have an edge on the field (or one that can't overcome the rake) how could this be? Sure the players are better on the whole nowadays, but the little $10/$20 live Limit I've played in the past year says that game is still beatable for me, and I'm rusty as hell. I'm sure a strong Limit player would still be able to find decent edges in higher games, I can't imagine every player above the $10/$20 level is playing perfectly.

The variance in LHE is higher than NLHE. Also, the edge you have over a live, LHE player is significantly smaller than the edge over a live, NLHE player. Basically, the ability for a bad player to make a mistake for all of his chips is of huge value in NLHE. There aren't enough hands/hour in a live, LHE game for it to be worth anyone's time. Unless the game is obscenely good and above 20/40. The rake will eat you alive...

Some people think that LHE has less variance than NL (at comparable limits), but it's not true. Aside from deepstacked "cooler" situations in NL, it's fairly easy to control your variance by playing a small-ball style. In limit it is very tough to keep variance down, especially shorthanded.

I will say that you can beat live limit below 20/40. I'm not sure where the cutoff is, but you can definitely beat 10/20 if you stick to good games. You won't win that much money at live 10/20, but you can beat it. Lower than that... well, that starts to get pretty tough.

Games 20/40 and above don't have to be "obscenely good" to be worth your time. They can be decent and still worth your time. For example, a live 60-120 game with 1 fish and 5 other good players would still be +EV to a skilled player.

I understand all of this, but you said Live Limit Holdem is not profitable in the long-run, maybe it was just a poor choice of word on your part.

Also considering I will have to read all of your drivel I don't think $250 is enough for 25 posts. I will go with 15 posts for $250, and frankly what does the 10 extra posts mean anyway... 15 is a damn good sample size IMO. If you insist on 25 I will go for $500.
