I have no doubt that she's a true transgender but being that she's as privileged (and old) as she is I don't feel that she's at all in touch with the true struggle that transgendered individuals go through. She could have as easily done this without fanfare like Lana Wachowski did.

Either way it's sad to see that with her transition as high-profile as it is it will change nothing for transgendered people who will continue to be discriminated against and shunned.

What would satisfy you? For her to be a spokesman and speak out about the plight of transgendered people? But you just said she's not in touch with that struggle, so you'd find that disingenuous.

Maybe you just resent her because she's rich and famous.

Money allows her to be sheltered from most of the discrimination that transgendered people encounter. There was a Vegas trans woman who played $100/$200 limit holdem with me once at Bellagio. This person had HUGE hands -- like even really big hands for a dude. That's immediately where everyone's eyes went, and the whole table was talking about it when she left. To her credit, she ran horrible, shot off about 12k, and was polite the entire time.

Don't know what the book says but I can't believe the idignation people have for something they know little or nothing. This is coming out (3x + y = 3.14)

Especially when identitiy #1 becomes world #1. Dealing with fame is often a problem in itself. Now that most of the world knows and respects identity #1, #1 and #2, do something as common as winng a gold medal, knowing the reaction would fuck people up. That's brave. The mixing of politics and a personal action (grand scale) is the problem. Whatever your personal situation, the decision to make it known, to live with it, or end it is the issue. Being a public figure has it's benefits and it's problems. Using notoriety as positive tool to bring awareness is a good thing. People with this dilema, who attact Jenner, are hypocrites
