Real talk, how bad was his legal defense team? They got him.. NOTHING.

Maybe he can share a cell with Micon so they can talk for years about the bitcoin movement.
Then afterwards they can do this to one another:
He's drawing thin but he still has outs.
Take a moment, Sonatine, to reflect on your Karpeles notions earlier in this game.
He sat in his house, typed a bunch of shit, and now hes going to prison for the rest of his life.
Forever plus a day, is his sentence.

He could have shown up to trial in a clown suit, in blackface, with the corpse of a bald eagle wrapped around his erection, and not done worse.

You can't create new marketplaces, thats the goddamn govmnts job.....
He could have murdered his lawyer with a ballpoint pen in front of the judge and jury and not done worse than this sentence.

yea its called making an example out of someone.
It's difficult to accept that given the number of law enforcement agencies involved only two crooked cops have been revealed so far. This is unrealistic variance. When Force goes to trial maybe he will reveal more illegal government shannanigans by way of plea bargain
“I know you must take away my middle years, but please leave me my old age," Ulbricht, now 31, wrote. "Please leave a small light at the end of the tunnel, an excuse to stay healthy, an excuse to dream of better days ahead, and a chance to redeem myself before I meet my maker.”
So depressing.

Maybe Micon will learn from this and realize that taking a plea deal is the best route.
Had this guy taken a plea he would have been fucked but would have been able to have old age on the outside.
Lesson to everyone. Dont launder money and order hits on people and you should be ok
:freelewfather
Definitely harsh but the feds felt they had to make an example out of him in hopes to scare others from doing the same thing in the future.
Others will continue on though and try not to leave traces he did but it's extremely lucrative so people will take risks for a better life financially for themselves (at least temporarily) and hope they get away with it for a long time.
I'm surprised this picture of Ross don't have a 1000 different memes but it don't.
The government is GOD
it's probably all just a big misunderstanding
He must be an intelligent fellow, but in a criminal sense he's not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
This nob/FORCE character was pegged to be Law Enforcement before the deal with Curtis Green went down... folks were saying on the forums he was LE.
After Green gets busted he should have been certain nob was LE. Instead of figuring this out he goes to nob to deal with the situation by killing Green?
Seriously, this guy must have been using too much drugs.
Besides the fact he tried to kill people, I agree with him.
Prohibition does not work for MANY reasons. If all drugs were made legal this world would be a much better place.
You will never stop people using drugs, instead of making drugs illegal governments should work on educating and discouraging people from using them.
Give addicts pharmaceutical grade drugs of their choosing and severely crack down on any black market suppliers.
If someone wants heroin make them register as an addict and give them whatever they want. Along with efforts to educate and try and get them to give up. Make it a serious crime if they give these drugs or sell these drugs to others. Plus, if they were legal there would be no real profit in selling them and addicting others.
The amount of crime that is associated with drugs is staggering.
How many people rob and steal to get drugs?
How many murders are a direct result of drug debts?
How many wars are funded by large scale trafficking?
How much corruption is a direct result of drugs being illegal?
I genuinely believe if you remove the criminal element you have a much better chance in educating and helping those who suffer from addiction.
The billions they waste on people in prison, the courts and policing could go to better use.
Anyway, there will be another Silk Road, but instead of some nerdy geek who has some idealistic belief people have the right to chose what drugs they ingest as it's their fundamental right, and not the governments right to chose the morals associated with using certain substances.
But this time they will be real criminals who are much better prepared, they will set up in a country that is much more favourable for such a venture and they will not make the mistakes Ulbricht made.
Governments will have no choice but to end this stupid prohibition nonsense. It's already happening, the boss of the DEA recently said it's a war they can not win. Many LE are starting to realise addicts need help not prison.
Ross Ulbricht will do 15 years max!
