Stayed at Paradisus resort over 15 years ago and it was awesome.... all inclusive, good food, good drink, nice beach, lots of things to do on premises. Shitty little casino. But again, this was quite some time ago. I'd recommend D.R. for a carribean beach vacation, especially with a wife or girlfriend.

I went a months ago, reviews for the place were good, guy from work stayed at the same place two years before me.
I fucking hated every second of it. The island is on par with Nepal in terms of poverty. You can't leave your resort, you can but it is not worth the trouble. The food was terrible, I literally lost 10 pounds in 7 days. The only beer they serve on the resorts is presidente, which is fucking toxic after drinking it for two days. I don't drink booze so this was an issue. I wanted to check out the hard Rock while I was there but didn't. I wish I had because I fear this might be the only acceptable place to stay on the island.
If you are looking to smoke I suggest you smuggle your own or bring some wax and a vape because weed down their is 19 levels below normal.
So terrible food, terrible drinks, terrible Island. The only reason I went is for a wedding and after the winter we just had I was kind of excited to go. Fuck that, after 48 hours of the whole experience I realized I was in hell.
This place is suitable for 17 year olds on spring break, that's about it.
I have the same feelings about Jamaica, pretty much the same experience. I went to Jamaica like 5 years ago and o remember telling myself I'll never do an all inclusive again. Well this time for Dominican I didn't have a choice and all I could hear in my heaf while I was down there was that I'll never fucking do this poverty Island bullshit again. I know a lot of people who said they had a great time for this wedding and they said the resort was awesome. Anyone who says that I cannot respect their opinion and needs their head examined. I would have rather spent 3 days in NYC, paying out the nose for everything, than for the money to go to the Dominican.
Majestic colonial is the place I stayed, just had to look up yhe name it was so forgettable except for the terribleness.

A friend of mine just got back and said he had a great time. He stayed all inclusive but not sure which resort.
Booked this place for 7 days, was $1,300 per person all inclusive with air fare and ground transportation, not sure if this is good or bad but with decent flight options this was the best i could find
