    ****Official Fishing Trips 2015****

    First trip of 2015.

So I just came back from a 4 hr striper and bluefish trip and boy were they biting.

We initially went jigging but then switched to bait and they started hoping on board. If you know these fish, they are very hard to reel up cause they keep running with the line and as you reel they pull more line. Many times they bit off the entire hook and you are fucked.

I had 3 on the line and caught one. My friends caught 4 each. Because of the very cold winter, the season started later than usual, but if this is any indication, its gonna be a good season.

It's confusing when you aren't being an over the top flamer.

I figured fishing was a new gay past time in the same family as cruising.

yeah I marinated last time to get the game out and it just didnt work. bluefish are tricky. i think it really depends what theyve been eating.

I was always told that once they get over a foot they become much more cannibalistic and their meet becomes tainted because of it.

I only ever fished for blue a foot or under and it's always been some of the best fish I've ever had.

Down in the outer banks we would fish for them with no bait. Just cast into schools of them with tri-hook lines reel/jerk and snag. The hardest part wasn't catching them, it was getting them up from the water to the pier.

Ehn.. cocktail blues (1' or so) are great but I used to have bluefish steaks that were great tasting, or so I thought at the time. I think its something diet related but I dont think cannibalism has anything to do with it.

Then again, stripers eating the same shit are always tasty as hell, so who knows...

Going to use this recipe...might add some old bay seasoning too..

    http://www.food.com/recipe/marinated...ed-bass-100329

1⁄2 cup extra virgin olive oil(might substitute with coconut oil)
    2 limes, juice of
    2 limes, zest of
    1⁄2 cup cilantro, chopped
    2 cloves garlic, chopped
    salt
    cracked black pepper, to taste
4 (8 ounce) striped bass, filets

Combine olive oil, lime juice, lime zest, cilantro and garlic in a large shallow bowl.
Add salt and pepper to taste.
With the tip of a paring knife, make three diagonal slits through the skin of each filet.
Place the fish in the marinade and turn to coat the fish.
Cover and refrigerate at least one hour.
Light a charcoal grill or turn a gas grill to medium high.
Place the bass on the grill and cook for about 8 minutes on each side, or until the fish flakes easy.

Just finished eating. Delicious juicy fish with a nice lime taste. Surprised I didn't dry it out. Still have another piece to cook.

I'm not going to red rep you but seriously, you need to post pics and cross post to food porn thread. Bad form sir.
