Great video. I recognize almost all of these scenes, some of which are really famous, some of which are a little more obscure.
The artists who did this song (but not the video, which was made for YouTube), were George Merrill and Shannon Rubican, a married couple which had previously only written songs for famous 1980s acts. They were best known for writing "How Will I Know" and "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" for Whitney Houston. They decided to finally write a song to sing on their own, which was "Waiting for a Star to Fall" in 1988.
The oddest part of the whole thing was the fact that, despite getting divorced in the early 2000s, they continued to hang out all the time and work together, as if they're still married. So why bother getting divorced at all? I have a friend who knows them personally, who told me, "They spend more time together than most married couples!"
