Trump went on to say that the wall needs one thing: transparency. “You have to be able to see through it,” he explained. “In other words, if you can’t see through that wall—so it could be a steel wall with openings, but you have to have openings because you have to see what’s on the other side of the wall.”
The wall needs to be see-through, the president continued, because drug dealers may otherwise throw large bags of drugs over the wall to the other side, and hit innocent passers-by. “As horrible as it sounds, when they throw the large sacks of drugs over, and if you have people on the other side of the wall, you don’t see them—they hit you on the head with 60 pounds of stuff? It’s over,” he added. “As crazy as that sounds, you need transparency through that wall. But we have some incredible designs.”

Planet Money: Episode 784: Meeting The Russians
Quote:
In 1996, Bill Browder went to Russia to try to make a fortune. He made his money, but he also found himself in a fight with Russian oligarchs over money and power. And he lost. It cost him not just his companies, but the life of friend.
His crusade to punish the people responsible led to Congress freezing the assets of dozens of powerful Russians. In retaliation, Russia banned Americans from adopting Russian kids. Which is why Natalia Veselnitskya scheduled a meeting with Donald Jr. to talk about "adoptions." Browder knows her; he calls her his "arch-enemy." Really, Browder says, she wanted to talk about unfreezing those Russian assets.
Today on the show, we call up Bill Browder and have him walk us through his years in Russia. Once, he and Putin were allies. But before Browder knew it, border guards were dragging him out of a VIP lounge, and eventually out of Russia. Now, even in exile, he doesn't eat in the same restaurant twice.
The story of Browder and his late friend helps explain what the Russian government—Vladimir Putin—wants from the President of the United States. And how far he'll go to get it.
Beto O'Rourke using the Bernie Sanders model to run against booger eating trash, Lying Ted Cruz.
It'd be nice to pull off a moral victory before the GOP perma rigs the elections.
Oh and Cruz's dad helped kill Kennedy, never forget.:)
Quote:
Rep. Beto O'Rourke, D-Texas, raised over $1 million in just two months for his campaign challenging the Senate seat of Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, who is up for reelection in 2018.
After announcing his candidacy in March, O'Rourke was able to raise the funds online in April and May alone, according to reports from Politico. The Federal Election Commission will post second quarter fundraising numbers online by mid-July, which will show O'Rourke's financial stats for April, May and June.
The Democratic competitor to Cruz's Republican spot in the Senate currently represents Texas's 16th district in the House, which includes El Paso. He's running a progressive, unconventional campaign focusing on the power of grassroots organization.
He has also built up a good rep with veterans and military folks with tremendous work towards holding the VA accountable for improving its servicing of vet care. And is well liked by many hispanics for his strong support for better border crossing policies and practices. But that position, as well as his socially liberal stance, will ultimately doom his chances beyond the Borderland given how "religulous" -- and bigoted -- a *lot* of "Texicans" are.
I'm highly critical of the guy, but he did the right thing here...........

..................Trump intervened by asking National Security Council officials to find a way for them to travel........... Ultimately the State Department, ....................... asked the Homeland Security Department to let them in on “parole,” a temporary status used only in exceptional circumstances to let in someone who is otherwise ineligible to enter the country. The U.S. granted parole after determining that it constituted a “significant public benefit.”
