Not a bad effort. As you saw at the end, the 4-minute film was commissioned by cable provider Xfininity. The commercial was repackaged by Sky TV in the UK, in an edited 2-minute version. Sky has been incorrectly getting credit as the 2-minute version has been much more widely shared on social media.
Henry Thomas, who played Elliot, had a DUI in October 2019. Too bad ET hadn't arrived yet, or otherwise he could have lifted the car in the air and gotten Elliot home when he was too drunk to drive.
