On November 3rd we will be having a panel with PFA members on Zoom to watch and react to the election results as they come in. This will be broadcast on YouTube, and hopefully onto PFA radio if we can figure out how to do that from a technical standpoint. People can state their opinions, but it won't be a hyper-political show either. Rather we will be reacting to and announcing the returns as they come in.

Obviously we're not going to pretend to be some serious news organization, but we will report information as it comes in so that people can tune in to our panel instead of watching the Lamestream Media on election night. We will be announcing states as they get called and keeping a tally. I think it will be interesting to have an archive of a historical event.

The broadcast will start at 6pm EST on election night. The first hour will be mostly a pre-game. 7pm is when results from a couple of key states will start rolling in. It will be a lengthy broadcast that will continue until a winner is called or until it gets to be too late.

Many PFA members will be on the call, but people will come and go throughout the night since it will be a long show. On the panel will be Todd Witteles, Brandon Gerson, Traderusky and myself. Some other PFA members have expressed interest and will be joining at some point during the night. I believe we want a maximum of 4 people on at any given time otherwise it becomes too chaotic.

We are looking for more people who want to join the panel and fill in for people who want to take breaks. You can have the option to come on with or without video (just a blank screen is fine). We'll have an open time-slot schedule if there's enough interest with people wanting to come on. If you want to come on, make a post in this thread with the approximate times when you'll be available (anywhere from 6pm to midnight EST) and we'll schedule when you can come on. We'll post a zoom ID during the show, but if you want to ensure that you'll get on make a post in this thread so we can schedule it. Joining the call to blatantly troll will get you kicked off.

We did a family cruise last thanksgiving and planned to take the same lap same week this year. Truly bummed out that’s not an option.

Only cruise related thing I did back in March was buy CCL for $8 and sell a few days later at $14. We had some real fun trading between March and June.

I will be on video, despite the fact that I normally do an audio show, and really don't like being on video. But I will be there.

Funny you mention that. I might use a second computer to rebroadcast this (audio only) on PFA Radio, for those who can't watch the YouTube broadcast for whatever reason.

But if part of the point is to do a sort of live news feed, how will you call states and races? What will be the official source?

It may surprise some of you to know that my main channel for watching the returns will be Fox News.

We'll all have the news on in the background so if any big network calls a state we'll call it. I'll also be quoting PredictIt prices throughout the night so if a state starts trading at 99 cents, that's a pretty good indication. That's actually probably a better source of info for how a state is looking than whatever the networks are saying.

Many here seem to be using oddsmaker numbers as accurate predictors of the up coming election.

Effectively, an oddsmaker is looking to price markets so that they receive an equal number of bets on both sides.

If the above statement is accurate how valuable can the numbers be?

PredictIt is not an oddsmaker. Unlike a sportsbook, they don't set lines. It's an exchange where people buy and sell futures contracts. The site just acts as an intermediary and takes a commission. They don't care who wins or loses since they're not booking any bets. Doesn't mean the numbers are reflective of reality, but it's reflective of how people are interpreting the data.
