Seeking advice how to unlock and sell a Galaxy S III
A family member asked me to sell a Galaxy S III for them and I can use some help. I never sold a phone or cpu before as I'm too worried about advanced hackers that can still access data even after its been cleaned. My family member said shes never used the phone to purchase anything via the phone and has no personal photos or information that she would be worried about someone finding. She basically just told me to log out of her Facebook account and delete phone numbers, photos, apps etc and sell it. I think that would be moronic just from what I know about hackers and how deep they can dig into something as simple as a facebook account and follow the rabbit trails until they get to the good stuff. I also worry if she forgot using a card before if purchasing something from the app store or what have it. I don't want to take chances.
Anyways... I want to know what is the best way to clear this phone totally! and sell it safely. I did research online, but only got so far until I ran into a roadblock. I was able to watch a Youtube video and do a "hard reset" where the data was wiped and phone is set on factory settings. When I turned the phone back on, it shows Verizon and her phone number. She isn't under contract with them anymore and I'm having a hard time trying to unlock the phone. If someone could write the steps down or point me to a good article/video to do this, Id really appreciate it.
I also would love to hear any input on anything else I should be doing. Should I purchase new sim card and micro SD card? If so which do I purchase? I checked Amazon and saw this one which is inexpensive http://www.amazon.com/VERIZON-CARD-W...rds=B006GCRY6E but that would be if I cant unlock it. If I can't sell it for at least $100, I think Ill just throw her some money for it and keep it myself. I have only used iPhone's and after seeing this Samsung screen quality, It would be nice to have while grinding live mtts as I can watch movies on it instead of my tablet. If you have experience selling a phone in the past and have tips or know of a better site to sell on than ebay, Id love to hear.
