Idk what I'd do in that situation since I've never been in that situation and I'm probably not getting the entire/whole story or understanding of it (EG: How hard did the waiter push the tasting menu? etc.). I didn't read any of the tweets or most of this thread FWIW.
I would think that at minimum, I'd complain and at least ask for the $11 cheaper price. Depending on how hard the waiter was pushing the bunk order, I'd possibly just leave just no tip. It's possible the waiter is just a retard and didn't know the tasting thing was a shit deal but he was just giving a recommendation in good faith. Obviously if I felt the waiter swindled me, then I wouldn't leave a tip at all. IMO, the stupidest thing to do is leave a smaller tip when you get bad service. Just leave $0. Why would you leave a tip, any tip, for poor service? Excluding a purposely insulting tip, like a few pennies or 50c, which is also acceptable. Sorry but that shit just fucking tilts me when people are like, "I got swindled out of $6 on the bill, so I'm just going to tip $6 fewer!!!"
I'd leave a scathing review (waiter included if I felt it's warranted) at least for the shady/scummy deal they got running there.
