PokerStars handed €400,000 fine for illegal gambling in the Netherlands

Dutch gambling regulator Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) has fined The Stars Group €400,000 (£353,442/$439,500) for operating without a licence in the country, via the PokerStars.eu domain.

The KSA carried out an investigation into the PokerStars.eu site during the second half of 2018 and identified a number of factors that showed the site was targeting Dutch consumers.

In its findings, the KSA said the site was accessible from the Netherlands despite The Stars Group not holding a licence in the country, while customers were able to deposit funds using iDEAL, an online payment method only available in the Netherlands.

Its like the EU was supposed to curtail this crap instead EU countries are wrecking havoc doing their own thing which is how they ended up with .ES .FR and other in country pokerstars sites.. They need to start clamping down on illegal gambling especially in Canada and Mexico.

These sleazy internet gambling companies deserve to be banned, fined and shutdown.

And the truth comes out in the last sentence. It’s not about protecting the consumer it’s about squeezing more money for the government. Maybe if they offered decent software and didn’t rape players on rake they would have more customers but instead of fixing their shitty software and ridiculous rake it’s about shutting down competition like Quebec tried to do. Typical blind jackass politician. As usual the government doesn’t like competition for thievery.
