There was some coercion via vaccine requirements at jobs and for entry to certain businesses. I didn't agree with that then, and I especially don't agree now (because two shots is almost useless at this point anyway, and super-useless to prevent transmission).
Despite that, most people who were anti-vax didn't get it. That's why some states had only about half of their population vaccinated.
Regardless, any study which looks at "vaccine outcome" and doesn't separate by age and prior health is dishonest.
It would be like saying that living in a retirement community is dangerous because they have a far higher death rate than regular neighborhoods. If someone told you that, you'd call them a moron, yet this is basically the same argument anti-vaxxers are making about the vaccinated outcomes being worse.
If you really want to make some decent anti-vax arguments at this point, try this:
- Original two shots have worn off and are mostly useless now, especially for non-elderly people
- Omicron presents like a cold in most people, and has a similar danger rate to the flu for the non-elderly
- Fourth shot has been mostly useless in preventing symptomatic Omircon in mid-2022
- It is possible that too many shots will cause T-cell exhaustion and actually worsen your ability to fight COVID long term
- Vaccination doesn't help much or at all with transmission at this point
- Even at their best point, the vaccines were still only effective for 5-6 months
- There are still plenty of unknowns regarding mRNA vaccines and their possibility to have aggravated hereditary or chronic conditions
There you go. No need for data manipulation.
