Who would have thought that a Team Retard enterprise would be so shoddy?
Truly some rookie shit here.
I always felt that fundamentally it was a force for good.
The Social Dilemma
:lol2
Twitter allowed themselves to be social engineered into giving the keys to the blue check mark castle.
That's actually far worse than this.
Parler has copies of of the ssns and photo IDs of most of their members. Seems worth mentioning.
Do they really? I downloaded it one day just to see what it was and I didn’t get asked for any of that. I stayed for 15 minutes and realized i really couldn’t get a feel for anything, so I assume they ask for photo ID and SSN if you want to start adding people or get people’s feeds?
I just wanted to see if it was like a free flow of ideas, but saw I couldn’t really seek people out by name. It didn’t let me pick my own screen name iirc, just defaulted me to one, but I skipped by a lot of add a picture and bio type shit, so maybe they ask there and it becomes more accessible after. It made me uncomfortable because I wanted to just check it out but the moment you sign up, it like sent out a preprogrammed intro asking for friends or saying you just joined and invited conversation. I was just there to people watch and deleted app ten minutes after downloading it. .
Yes. Really. For example, you want to send a DM? You can't until you upload your ID (and send them a selfie lol).
You can download the app and look at it and shit, but to use it like a regular user, pony up the info, suckers. Otherwise, you won't achieve "real user" status.

is responsible for the breach.
also there is a fucking ton of PII and worse on parler's db that was aggregated from other sites and its about to be a huge, huge deal.
rebecca mercer yall.
So a thread about the poor security of Parler, a Twitter knockoff, doesn't deserve a comment about the even more embarrassing security lapse of Twitter itself?
Okay.
Shame on me for interfering with the smug "left is so intellectual and competent, right is so incompetent and stupid" narrative.
Also this is no defense of Parler.
I don't even have an account there. Not into echo chambers.

This was far worse than Parler's screwup in several ways.
