this was a great game in 1997. i was in in las vegas when it was being played.

fairfiled was up 35-27 at the half


fairfield was in the game until the very end. if they had an answer on the boards they would have won the game...unc had vince carter, antwan jamison and serge zwicker


one reason that made this game competitive is that fairfield had a shit ton on injuries that year and lost many games because of it. but their players game back and they were getting better, and won the maac tourney to earn a spot. i was pretty sure they were suppose to be good that year.



back in 1997 they really never gave a 16 seed to a conference like this. it was a perfect storm that landed them @ 16. their talent was much stronger. pretty sure they were a 23/27pt underdog as well.


game picked up so much buzz as it went along and peeps kept asking where the fuck is fairfield....lol
