Israel has bombed Iran

Had a suspicion after Hegseth ordered voluntary evacuations of all US military dependents shit was about to go down and now tonight Israel has gone full aerial bombing campaign against Iran (within hours of the IAEA announcing Iran was not abiding by inspections and other requirements).

Will Iran be stupid enough to involve the USA forces in retaliation. (Would be absolutely stupid since 1/3 of our B2 bombers are at Diego Garcia and we can use them to smash Iran and the Iranians have nothing capable of reach the bombers)

sigh... and i really thought DJT was gonna be the "peace keeper", the fraudulent Ukraine funding is still going on too... it really pisses me off...

This was inevitable. I was surprised this didn't happen 20 months ago.

Israel sat there getting attacked by 3 different groups sponsored by Iran, and now Iran is attempting to become nuclear capable. Israel couldn't afford to ignore them anymore.

Iran also has shown themselves to be all bark and no bite regarding direct military action. Now they're going to have to respond. I wonder what that will look like.

This will be a very brief conflict. My guess is very soon the US will drop a MOAB bomb on Tehran. The US simply has too many naturalized Americans in Israel so there is no choice to get involved. Nobody outside of, well Iran, gives a shit about Iran in the Middle East. They want them cleaned out as well, especially the Saudis and they control all the money.

this is what i see;

we got sucked into the red sea blockades and basically failed to make meaningful impact on the houthi situation because of iran's blank checks, and of course its ongoing. plus they just failed an atomic energy commission audit like today.

so the more meaningful question is; is iran provoking this attack, or are they just belligerent for the sake of belligerence...

like the notion that they would need approval from trump is awkward because 1) lakud are crazier than anyone in the united states can imagine and 2) their goals re iran are super aligned with ours.

but that said i cant imagine that somehow they would ship it against iran without trump knowing ahead of time. so im not sure if you can call it approval if the call is like "hey so you know we are moving against iran in 12 hours".

Little premature, he has not been in office yet for 6 months. He inherited a mess. He can easily solve this conflict in the ME is a couple days. Everyone was laughing at Trump in 2017 of not eradicating ISIS and a few months later they were like 98% gone. He has all the oil brokers on his side in the ME, so that will likely resolve itself pretty quick. Now Ukraine - Russia that one is a little trickier, my guess is Ukraine just concedes the claimed land. I am not sure why they want it anyway, its all destroyed and effectively worthless now for a generation and Russia has no money so it likely will just be a wasteland.

My guess is this:

Israel wanted to do this shortly after 10/7, but Biden (or whoever was the secret President at the time) objected to it.

Trump took office on 1/20/25, and shortly thereafter, Israel approached him and asked for him to go along with this attack in the middle of the year. Trump agreed, and Israel spent several months preparing for it. They settled on June 12 as the attack date, and so it began.

This is probably the favorite. I’m just trolling the Trump the peacemaker crowd and Trump is strong crowd.

If he did know and chose to look weak and basically beg Netanyahu not to do this instead of appear strong and like he endorsed it, that’s a real testament to how powerful and large the segment of the right is right now who are actively posting we aren’t dying for Jews and Iran has a right to protect itself.

Other than Lindsay Graham and Ted Cruz, pro-Iran or at minimum don’t intervene even if Israel is on the verge of extinction is the overwhelming majority of right leaning voices right now. If he needed to do theater and appear like Netanyahu defied him rather than draw the ire of that crowd, then I hope Israel can deal with Iran themselves. I assume they can.

This post was from a year ago - what I was trying to do here is plant in anyone that read this's mind that all Israeli disputes were always going to be resolved, or at least attempted to be, out of this series of events.

As if the protests and wide spread opinions of Israel online weren't obvious enough, there have been multiple professionally conducted polls showing that the support of Israel is non existent among millennials and gen Z, with both generations having a large percentage outright opposed to Israel. The likelihood of being opposed greatly increases the younger the person is. This sentiment is worse in every single western country.

A deeper analysis and understanding of what Israel is doing and why they are doing it (for the long term survival of the country) makes their actions not seem so reckless but actually rather necessary, but overall they've still handled this very poorly and are still clearly hellbent on forcing us into joining the conflict.

I am personally hoping that this doesn't spiral fully out of control for the sake of the Israeli people.

The current (and longstanding) Islamic fundamentalist regime of Iran would not hesitate to use nukes to obliterate Israel, even if it meant they got nuked back. These type of people feel that it is righteous to destroy the infidels, even if you die yourself.

Islamic terrorists are not afraid of death. They are afraid of failure, and a death without having achieved your terror goals is considered a failure.

This is why a terrorist who dies flying an airplane into the WTC is proud and eager to do so, whereas a terrorist dreads dying from an Israeli bomb while in the planning stages of an attack.

The absolutely most dangerous scenario for the world is an enemy with nukes who isn't afraid of their own country being nuked in retaliation. In such a case, mutually assured destruction doesn't work.

Iran is too far along with their nuclear program. Israel was running out of time. Once capable of nuking Israel, Iran will hold a lot of the cards, as Israel does not want its citizens to die, while Iran does not care about their own.

I don't see how anyone can deny that Iran has been engaging in a proxy war against Israel since October 7, 2023. Given that being the case, how can you blame Israel for these actions?

To be fair Israel has a right to act since they would be targeted by any nukes Iran has (reports vary of potentially 9-15 bombs were potentially in final production). I will add though. Clearly we sold the Israelis the bunk buster bombs they would have had to use for this strike given how deep Iran's nuclear enrichment and other related facilities are. Truth is it was either the bunker buster penetrators or it would've required B61-12 Dial a yield nukes with Ground Earth Penetrating delayed fuses and pretty sure Isreal using a nuke in this case wouldve been a major no no.

Im not sure entirely what Isreal was supposed to do. They sat around waiting for Trump to get Iran to play nice and Irans response after the IAEA basically said Iran is in total no compliance of inspections and likely had HEU at 85% (weapons grade U235) and Irans response wasnt even to deny it just say basically F you were gonna be enriching Uranium at a 3rd site.

Truth is the Arab countries (Iran is Persian) want to see Iran leadership removed and the whole issue of nukes be off the table. KSA already has made it clear due to their massive distrust of Iran if they get a nuke, KSA will have no choice but to build some of their own. Last thing needed is even a minimal nuke exchange even if it didnt involve Isreal happening that could drive Oil literally off the charts if both hit each others oil fields. (Theres a Dale Brown novel that discusses this exact scenario, for those who dont know Dale was a USAF pilot for over 20yrs and studied the Middle East extensively)

Close guess but more likely the truth is if Tehran is stupid enough to target US military bases over there I would suspect hell fire to rain down on them via at least one converted Ohio Class SSGN (converted to launch Tomahawk Cruise Missiles vs Pershing Nukes) which can carry damn near 200 on a single sub along with Stand off ATACMS launched by the B2s we have sitting in Diego Garcia. Targets likely to be anything military including Revolutionary Guard Depots Potential decapitation strikes against the leadership (finishing what Isreal already started on targeting and eliminating some leadership tonight). Truthfully need to limit civilian casualties as much as possible because theres a sizeable civilian population group that wants to bring back the Shah in Exile or at minimum bring down the entire theocracy in Iran. If what the IAEA reported was true they essentially exposed what Irans true status on having viable weapons within weeks. Iran literally came out and gave the middle finger to the IAEA as well as others saying they were expanding their enrichment capability even further. And yes pretty sure we know what was going to happen Druff. Why else would Hegseth called for voluntary evacuations of military dependants and non essential personal 36hrs prior to Israel going in. Plus the fact we likely sold them the bunker buster bombs to hit the buried underground facilities.
