That would give the USA a potential Naval Base literally at the Bospherus Straits in case Turkey goes sideways as an ally to keep Russia bottled up still or at least an easy way to monitor their traffic out into the Med. It would also give us a solid place to operate should we need to intervene militarily. This isnt about building Trump Towers in Gaza theres alot more at play many dont realize.
