Southwest ridiculed after proudly showing off cramped new seating: ‘Is there an option to stand?’

Southwest is a good choice if you're playing in the WSOP because of their no-fee change policy. Say you enter a 5 day event and book a flight arriving the day before and leaving the day after. Then you bust out on Day 1 and want to go home. You can easily change your flight. You can book several flights that way for different events right now and not have to worry about it. I believe you can cancel for free also.
Thanks, DR, for this timely topic!
I prefer to fly Spirit
Capitalism
Step one
The right to choose
Step two
Southwest Airlines making massive change to how it flies- https://www.sacbee.com/news/business...ource=facebook
The best way to look at modern US airlines is this:
Discount airlines like Spirit and Frontier are aimed at customers ranging from lower class to lower-middle class. It's not just no-frills. It's no service. They view you as scum who has no choice but to fly with them, and you're treated as such. If anything goes wrong (and I'm not talking about the plane safety), you're fucked.
Southwest is one step above that. Their expected clientele is lower-middle to middle class. They are what I call "fake customer friendly". They have generous standard policies and tend to operate efficiently, but they are extremely rigid in their rules, and they will also tend to fuck you if something out of the ordinary occurs. Not nearly as bad as Spirit, but keep in mind they also look down on the customer.
The mainline airlines such as Delta, American, United, and others are aimed at middle-class and above. They can also be difficult and bureaucratic, but there is a higher level of customer service and respect typically shown to the passengers. If you try hard enough, you can usually get issues resolved.
I will never fly on Southwest, nor will I fly on a discount airline.
Pilot threatens to turn plane around if passenger continues to AirDrop nudes
A pilot threatened to turn the plane around and end everyone’s holiday before it had begun if they didn’t stop sending nude photographs around via AirDrop.
The whole strange announcement was captured on video by passenger Teighlor Marsalis, who filmed the pilot stating that he’d have to ‘pull back into the gate, everybody’s going to have to get off.’
The pilot added: “We’re going to have to get security involved.”
In the rest of the video, which has since been viewed more than two million times, the aircraft’s captain said that everyone’s ‘vacation is going to be ruined’ if the activity didn’t stop.
“Whatever that AirDrop thing is, quit sending naked pictures, and let’s get yourselves to Cabo,” he added.
Southwest and Spirit announce the presence of in flight air marshals and customer perception of these shit outfits would improve 2x
Create an “air marshal fee” so air fare searches do not include the cost. Calling it a resort fee would be acceptable

Pretty sure I will never fly again, did a lot when I was younger and it was like a high end catered party. What’s going on now just doesn’t seem worth it.
Everyone is bitching about Southwest ending free bags.
Like... guys... did you not realize for the past few decades that you've been flying on a shit airline? Because you have.
Southwest fans are such fucking sheep. They were mesmerized by the fake-customer-friendly policies, when in reality they were flying in a shitty sardine can aimed at lower-middle-class people, with zero flexibility or customer service.
Just heard that Southwest planes have no AC electrical outlets, which is awful, unless you're on a very short flight.
I have flown Southwest in the past and always just figured them as a regular airlines, liked the flexibility of their times, etc.
But what always annoyed me was some frequent fliers that just brag how they fly SWA all the time like its some badge of honor. Really? Its not something to brag about.

Add- I think this flight attendant is pretty hot. 8/10
I’m all for .gov giving contracts to Palantir and Elon but how much would air marshals cost for the love of god.
At least on the shitty airlines. Some legislation could have those low buck airlines pay for some portion of that public safety. Institute an air marshal fee to ticket purchasers
Feels like an executive order from the king is due
Effective 05/28/25, today.
Southwest Airlines has announced that checked bags will cost $35, while a second checked bag will cost $45.
After more than 50 years, Southwest Airlines' "bags fly free" policy is finally coming to an end on Wednesday. The new policy only applies to flights booked on or after May 28, which means today is the last day to book if passengers want to avoid the new fee.
In addition to the checked bag fees, a new flight credit policy will also take effect tomorrow, affecting how long Southwest customers can use their travel vouchers.

Discount airlines have their place, as long as they're up front and honest about their differences and limitations (which they're usually not).
They should be required to disclose that the seat pitch (distance between seats) is tiny, and not suitable for people over 5'9".
They should be required to disclose prior to purchase (and in a clear fashion, not fine print) all of the extra fees which aren't typically charged on other airlines.
They should be required to clearly disclose any fare rules or idiosyncrasies which are different than other airlines.
Then, if people want to still purchase a ticket and save money despite the shitty and spartan experience they're likely to have, fine. There are some people who can't afford mainline air travel, who need the discount carriers. As long as people clearly know what they're getting, it's fine.
The problem is that, in most cases, people don't until something goes wrong.

Southwest runs the biggest 737 fleet on earth. But none of them fly to Europe, and that’s no accident.
The airline’s all-737 setup simply isn’t built for transatlantic flying. While the 737 MAX 8 has the range, Southwest would need to certify it for long overwater routes (ETOPS), retrain crews, and rework its operations. And even then, it wouldn’t have business class, hot meals, or long-haul comfort.
There’s no premium cabin, no lie-flat seats, no entertainment built into the seat. Just snacks, WiFi, and decent legroom. That’s fine for a two-hour hop. Less fine when you’re halfway to London.
Instead, Southwest relies on its Icelandair connection. Customers can book through to Europe by connecting in Reykjavik from cities like Denver, Baltimore, and Nashville. It’s a workaround, not a plan.
Meanwhile, rivals like United and Norse Atlantic are expanding across the Atlantic with widebodies, cheap fares, and strong loyalty bases. If Southwest entered now, it would have to undercut everyone just to survive.
Could it happen someday? Maybe. But it would require a new aircraft type, new onboard service, and a whole new strategy.
For now, Southwest is staying home.
Pro fighter goes ballistic on a Southwest flight — then gets escorted out on a stretcher: ‘This is bulls—t!’
He went from blackbelt to blacklist.
So much for martial arts instilling discipline and self-control: Mixed martial arts fighter and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu expert Aaron “Tex” Johnson was ejected from a Southwest Airlines flight after getting into a verbal grappling match with passengers and crew — calling them “losers” and “pieces of s–t.” Footage of his expletive-laden outburst is currently amassing millions of views TikTok, X and Instagram.
It’s yet unclear what kicked off the mile-high mayhem, but footage shows the heavily-tattooed Johnson, 39 — who is a blackbelt in BJJ — getting into it with a flight attendant over an apparent bag issue shortly after boarding.

as the guy points out in the video below, this is why you don't run your mouth at the bar or try to be "the hero of the day"
you never know what somebody's back ground is and a person who might not look like much could absolutely be an MMA fighter, or a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu expert... like the guy says who is narrating the video, i think airport security/police and especially some of them dudes running their mouth on the plane trying to be a "hero" are lucky this guy didn't let loose.... it would of taken army to bring this guy down... i am not sticking up for the guy at all, as he was in the wrong... i am just saying a lot of people are lucky that he didn't let loose on them when they ran their mouths....
