Given the location of her remains, I’m going to go out on a limb and speculate that her remains did NOT get that way from, say, spontaneous combustion?
Was she a notable player? Never heard her name before, and when you said Bike and Commerce, I assumed I was going to read about a Bay Area player. Not Oakland County metro Detroit. Was she an online pro? Hard to be a live pro poker player in Detroit. Games not big enough when I’m there. True of most Midwest cities. Games are like Cleveland and Pittsburgh. Rarely shit to make a living on.
I’ve seen her around the LA card clubs for what seems like at least 5+ years. I assumed she was from the LA area but apparently not. Sounds like she went back home due to COVID as many have done. Zhao also cashed in the Main in 2017.

As I said, I'm not going to delete any serious posts speculating about the situation. I'm just removing the intentionally obnoxious/crude stuff, because as I said, I imagine that her family is either already reading this thread or will soon.
From what I can tell, the killer didn't try to hide the body very well. It was in or near a parking area for a hiking trail. I'm sure he could have found a ton of better places to hide it, if that were the goal. To me, the burning looks like it was done out of rage. Had the burning been meant to conceal it, I'd have thought he would have driven it somewhere remote before doing so.
It's also possible that the guy killed her randomly when he saw her about to start hiking, and then stupidly thought lighting a body on fire before fleeing will burn it completely and make it vanish.

Familiar-to-the-victim killers may also seek to just delay discovery of the body/remains long enough to create time and distance between the killing and the discovery by authorities.
