I'm not talking about major biased news outlets because they all scared to lose viewers if they break from the "our side is always right" narrative.

I've personally seen lots of right wing individuals criticize their own party. In fact, look at the #NeverTrump movement, even after he won the primary.

In contrast, as soon as Hilary won the primary, almost all of her previous left-wing critics (mostly Bernie supporters) did an about-face and started pushing the narrative that she was a wonderful woman who was the victim of a right wing conspiracy and/or misogyny -- something they still push to this day.

Oh, sure, Hillary did lose some Bernie supporters, but only because it came out that she cheated against him, not because they felt she was shady and refused to go along with the BS narrative in order to beat Trump.

As I mentioned before, Trump did so well with blue collar, swing-voting Americans because his side didn't attempt to lie to everyone that he was some wonderful human being.

Trump supporters said, "Yes, Trump is often rude, inappropraite, says stupid things, and is a downright asshole at times. But he knows how to get things done and is what America needs right now."

Hillary supporters said, "Hillary Clinton is the most qualified candidate for President ever, and all criticism of her is borne from misogyny and partisan politics. It's all lies. Trust us!"

It's no wonder that so many moderate Democrats thought she was full of shit and voted for Trump instead.

That's a microcosm of the attitudes of the left and the right now.

Neither party's members want to easily admit their side was wrong or did something stupid, but Republicans are more willing to admit it while assigning a "... but he/she is still better than the alternative" disclaimer to it, whereas Democrats are so terrified that any validation of Republicans will further the "evil" right wing agenda that they remain in denial about everything.

Just look at the current delusion going on regarding Elizabeth Warren. Privately, Democrats as a whole really don't want her anymore, but nobody is saying it out loud. Don’t confuse the coordinated media campaign by Dem party operatives who back corporatists like Kamala Harris for “Democrats as a whole”. The same thing happened to Howard Dean with the infamous campaign rally “Scream” video that the mainstream media, who strongly favored the much more economically conservative John Kerry, put on blast to make Dean look like a fool.

They will publicly say that she is truly a Native American and unfairly vilified by Republicans scared of her, but quietly they know that the DNA test release was ridiculous, and that she made a fool of herself.

No serious Democratic pundit will say that Warren is “truly a Native American”, but conservatives *are* scared of her given that she is calling for establishment of a federal *wealth* tax on the rich, and that may end up appealing to some of the GOP’s base that Trump rallied to the polls. Seriously, dude. Only you and other right-wingers are wringing your hands over Warren’s DNA test release.

Mumbles, I'm not wringing my hands over anything with Warren. I hope she's the candidate. She's stiff, won't appeal to the swing voter well, and still looks absurd regarding the DNA thing, which she simply won't concede or give up. (That crisis could have ended a long time ago if she wasn't so afraid of validating Trump's insults.)

I actually thought the "Dean scream" was silly, and a dumb reason to abandon the guy. But he was a loose cannon and would have fared poorly in a general election, so yes, establish Democrats wanted him out.

But Warren is a different story. You will barely hear any Democrats -- even non-prominent, non-politicians -- state that Warren's DNA test thing was ridiculous, and that she's clearly white. They are all so terrified of giving the right any ammunition.

Usually when I see the left criticizing their own party, it's from an even further left wing point of view. "Hillary Clinton is a corporate shill" is the type of thing I'd read. But rarely would I read, "Hillary Clinton is shady and dishonest, and many of the accusations against her probably have at least some merit" -- at least not after she won the primary. Why? Because it's safe to say that Hillary is Republican-lite, because she's still preferable to fellow Democrats than an actual Republican. But calling her character into question could push some Democrats to vote for the Repubilcan, so they feel they absolutely can't do that.

A big reason for all of this is because of the way the two parties view one another.

Republicans think Democrats are wrong.

Democrats think Republicans are evil.

When you think something is evil, it brings out far more emotions and a need to defeat the other side than simply thinking the other side is wrong or makes bad political decisions.

Many Democrats now think this country is in a fight for its life against evil forces (the Repulicans, especially Trump), and that the violent/dishonest/manipulative ends often justify the means. Why? Because defeating pure evil is always top priority.

This is now why we see such extremism in the media to attack Trump in a hyper-biased fashion, even though he does plenty wrong to where he could easily be effectively attacked in an UNBIASED fashion!

When Trump talks about the mainstream media being "fake news", he's half right. No, they're not always fake news or biased when they are reporting on legitimate wrongdoing on his part. However, they also spend a lot of time smearing him unfairly, which has made a lot of middle-of-the-road voters tune them out and validate Trumps's "fake news" claim.

That, in fact, was the whole point of the Atlantic article you posted.

Druff, “corporate shill” is another way of saying “corrupt”. And a LOT of Dems who voted in the primaries for Bernie Sanders vocally expressed their opinion that Hillary was corrupt and shady. And many were upset that Bernie verbally supported her after she was nominated.

WRONG! Conservative Christians like one of my brothers has repeatedly said that he felt that Obama was “evil” for his support of abortion rights. The problem with the right, and I'm pretty staunch Repub, is they don't have one mainstream commentator who is likable imo. None. Rush would be the closest if he didn't have the largest ego in the business. He will play any and all media clips that have his name in them. That's balls showing material to me. Mark Levin is great, except he's the whiniest most negative fuck on the air these days. Michael Savage is Michael Savage. What can you really say about that clown. Hannity has never had an original thought come out of his mouth ever. He's Trump's puppet. Coulter is the worst of the bunch. I dislike her as much as I hat Maddow and Lemon. Every time I listen to Ben Shapiro I get an immediate urge to punch him in the face. Dan Bongino is perhaps the dumbest guy I've ever heard on air. That's all I got. I'm sure there's others, like Crowder, but if they aren't on the air mainstream at least semi regularly I'm not counting them. The voices on the right flat out suck right now. Doesn't change my politics but I've been listening a hell of a lot less lately. And I haven't watched any news in close to a year including Fox. Just over it already.
