Well, it will probably happen before 2019, and you won't really notice much of a difference.

But I'll probably be switching servers.

Right now the PFA server is running on semi-obsolete equipment, which is part of the reason why it's slow loading huge threads at times.

I'm going to be moving it to a new system soon, which has more hard drive space and a LOT more RAM.

IP addresses should change, so you may have trouble accessing the site for a few days while this happens.

I will update this thread as it gets closer.

Update:

Yes, this is going to happen.

Likely at some point this week (but not today), PFA will be down for several hours while I am migrating it.

Then you also may have issues reaching PokerFraudAlert due to the IP address change.

The new server will be tested on pokerfraud.com first, so keep that as a backup domain to access in case pokerfraudalert.com doesn't work for a few days.

Anyway, if things seem screwy with accessing the system in a few days, you'll know why. Just be patient and it will all resolve.

This is a process I typically go through about every 2-3 years, as better technology becomes available for cheaper.

Also, overall this is going to cost me a little bit more money, so I will be running PFA at an even greater loss than before.

PFA may be down as soon as tomorrow. I will be moving everything and then it will come back up, but you may have difficulty reaching the new IP at first.

What's changing?

PFA is going to a completely new server.

The processor will be faster.

The RAM will be 16x as large (going from 4GB to 64GB).

The hard drive will be 4x as large (going from 1TB to 4TB).

Opening up the Jew wallet big for this one, plus it will be a fair amount of effort to move anything.

None of you fuckers deserve this, but I'm doing it anyway.

I'm hoping this will fix the annoying "slow loading of huge threads" problem.

this is exciting as i've noticed it takes an unusually long amount of time to post my vegan lifestyle threads, hopefully this will resolve the issue before i have to get ANTIFA involved.

A year later, the Trump thread with almost 40,000 posts is loading fairly quickly (way better than before the server switch), and I think everything else here is working.

This move was a lot harder than you guys realize. The new version of PHP pre-loaded onto the server wasn't compatible with the vBulletin version I had been running since 2012, so I had to upgrade that, which was a huge pain in the ass, especially moving over my custom modifications into the new version. Plus it just broke some other shit in general.

Then I had some e-mail deliverability issues which took awhile to resolve.

I had other BS occur as a result of the server move.

But I think everything's been running smoothly for several months now. If there's any further issues, other than the forum being 8th tier and dupes running rampant, please let me know.

I do not foresee another server move for at least a few more years.
