In the "woke" area where I live Thanksgiving isn't even a thing at all, as it has been determined that it is a celebration of white privilege and exploitation of brown peoples. However, in his 1st grade class my son's teacher took it upon herself to teach the kids about whatever Indian tribe the Pilgrims met, which I had never even heard of before. So apparently Thanksgiving is now a celebration of the Wampanoag Indian tribe.
I guess there was some backlash as some of the more woke parents got upset that she even addressed Thanksgiving at all, so she wrote a long email to the parents explaining how she understood that Thanksgiving was a sensitive subject, and she would teach about it in a very progressive manner.
