Kilgore Trout is apparently angry at me for no good reason

You've probably seen by now that Kilgore Trout has been posting a lot of nasty messages to/about me, and you're probably wondering what the issue is.

A few days ago, Crackpipes_and_Kakfights posted her first name while bashing her.

Kilgore sent me a REALLY angry PM demanding that I remove the message and warn the user.

I explained to Kilgore that first names of users are NOT considered "personal info" around here, because a first name by itself is not identifiable information. So for example, if you found out that Daly's first name was "Mike" (it isn't, btw), you wouldn't be able to find him based upon that piece of info. Even the official PFA rules say:

So I explained this to Kilgore, but told her that, as a favor, I would delete the name anyway.

She told me to fuck off and not to do her any favors, and here we are.

Ever since then, she's been attacking me and claiming I'm a "hypocrite" and various other bad things.

I really don't get it. Of all things for her to freak out about, she's flipping out because I didn't ban or sternly warn someone for posting a first name. And this public anger was AFTER I agreed to remove the name anyway, in the spirit of cooperation.

I also don't understand how her first name is such a big deal, given that she used it to post on the RealGrinders Facebook group for like a year, and that place has thousands of members.

Of course, inconsistent and baffling behavior has been a staple of Kilgore's ever since she showed up on my other forum, so I'm not surprised.

But that's where I first encountered Kilgore. She had some problem with Caesars (I think this was in 2015), and I even called her once to give her advice as to what I thought she should do.

Oh, I should point out one other thing.

Prior to this, I actually considered Kilgore to be somewhat of a friend, even after what happened last year (some of which, in hindsight, I wish I handled differently).

For that reason, when I saw how pissed she was over this matter, rather than respond or make it public, I wrote her private messages both on here and on Facebook that I wanted to talk further about this and end the hostility.

She ignored all of the messages. I was going to let it go, but she has been continuously bashing me ever since, so I decided it was finally time to say something publicly.

More and more I am glad I was born when I was and not 20 years later, and kinda wish I had maybe been born earlier. Honestly, life just seemed better and everyone happier 50 years ago before cultural Marxism started running amok. I have a feeling that most, but not all, minorities and women were probably happier too.

i think first names of users, who didn’t put them out there him/herself should be considered personal info and kept off the boards.

the problem here is that everyone already knows her full name, date of birth, social security number, arrest record and known aliases so the concern that someone will be able to “track her down” over it is less of an issue than for most people.

also i swore she used her first name publicly, but may be wrong

I am pretty sure she used her first name too, because I know what it is, and I pay 0 attention to Kilgore Trout drama.

That being said, I am sympathetic to someone asking other posters not to use their name anymore, even if it was once ok.

I used to post at another forum years ago where my SN was my name, which was fine for awhile, but then you realize there is a lot of creepy people on the internet and even if you don't care about them harassing you personally, you don't want them to harass your family and work, and you want to be more anonymous. So I made a new SN and asked the other posters to let my old one die. Noone really complied though. Hard to take back stuff on the internet.

You occasionally slip up and it's always clearly a mistake, but I doubt the average listener could give the first name of Khalwat or Traderoooooski. When I've called in you've not said my name either, even though you know it. I like it like that.

I agree it's impolite to refer to someone by their first name on here if they haven't made it public, but there's a difference between impolite and harmful.

It was even weirder because I AGREED to remove her first name (and did it), and she still got pissed.
