New Jersey went to Federal court to have the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act overturned.
It was announced today that the Supreme Court ruled the act as unconstitutional and that each state can now decide to legalize sports betting.
Will be interesting to follow and see if other states now start offering sports betting!!

PA is definitely going to be legalizing sports betting fairly soon after NJ does and id be willing to bet NY wont be far behind...so if you have mobile betting in philly and NYC there is no reason to make a special trip to AC to bet...also if they open up mobile betting in NJ or corner shops in Hoboken, NYC residents will definitely have no reason to go down to shitty AC...

The observation that many states already have casinos experienced in sports wagering is a good one.
Unfortunately state legislators are imbeciles and will not listen to the casinos to see what has been refined over 50 years. Greedy politicians with no business sense will see this as some windfall and fuck it up. This is a mortal lock.

Agree 100% with this. New books will be in line with Nevada books . There would simply be no reason to be higher % juice . They have been waiting a long long time for this and in all reality the books themselves will bring more people into the casino and inevitably people will play -EV games . So there would be no reason to have a higher juice . End of story

I don’t recall the numbers but even Nevada tweaked their tax rate downward to help the books with their fairly small margins.

Think it took 'em a while (Bovada) to do the state avoidance thing, but, it probably works for them...like "some kinda I won't offer my illegal service if you expressly keep me out" deal that keeps everyone happy or at least stable.
A smart syndicate could have members with addresses in states that allow offshore and others in states that don't (cuz they offer legal bets) and there could be a nice arbitrage market if states have shakey lines and/or decent vig if they were going after arb opportunities...

cant imagine the new books are going to charge a 15/20 cent line...they cant be stupid enough to think that's gonna fly with online and local bookies as options...
philly and jersey casinos could probably "charge" blackjack players with 6:5 blackjack, but I haven't seen it...granted the last time I was in a jersey casino was 2 years ago and haven't been to valley forge/parx to play in the pits in over a year...
my one caveat is that people who run casinos are absolute fucktards (and I worked for the supreme fucktards) so they may just fuck this up with 15/20 cent lines...
