Paige, who just barely pieced her career back together after a sex tape scandal, got kicked in the back during a match.

No big deal.

Except in this case it was a very, very big deal, and she apparently suffered some sort of hideous and permanent nerve injury, and you can watch the awareness of this spread through the people in the ring like a tidal wave of existential horror as Paige tries to recover and fails, flailing and flapping her arms before the ref picks up on the visual cues and halts the match, followed immediately by the least in-character entrance of a medic in history.

Sad. She was very talented. She also loved to party hard, which I respect in this "PG" era where wrestlers tend to go back to the hotel after the show and play video games instead of going out and partying. It is a throw back to the glory days of our great sport. Is she still dating Alberto Del Rio?

supposedly she was told on monday that the injury was a career ender, so its possible that the wwe was never part of that convo, and wouldnt comment on a fighters personal medical diagnosis of course, and that paige is probably dealing with this by spiking oxies in the nearest motel 6.

imo absolutely nothing in that video says to me anyone was aware of a hard shoot taking place, including the ref and medic.

With her other injuries she potentially came back too soon.

She obv looks in serious pain making that tough to watch but it was a very accidental incident.

Edge had a similar injury that forced him to retire.

The Benoit thing is interesting. The lapsed fan podcast did a 10 or so hour deep dive into the benoit tragedy. I listened to the whole thing. Very interesting thing that came out of that is that I am almost positive that the WWE knew that Benoit had murdered his family by like 2 pm the next day when they did the Benoit Tribute show on Raw that night, but they went ahead with the Benoit Tribute Show anyway. They later claimed that they didn't know what had happened when they started the show, but there is very very strong evidence that they did.
