Probably not a good idea to drive around one of the worst parts of Mexico with alot of camera equipment by yourself.
100 times out of 100 they have a fixer arrange safe passage. Gotta wonder what went wrong here.
from the article: Netflix issued the following statement: “We are aware of the passing of Carlos Muñoz Portal, a well-respected location scout, and send our condolences to his family. The facts surrounding his death are still unknown as authorities continue to investigate."
also fta: Muñoz’s bullet-riddled body and car were found in a remote area near San Bartolo Actopan in the state of Mexico near the borders of Hidalgo state, which is said to have one of the highest murder rates in Mexico.
Passing. The passing of Carlos.
Unfortunate choice of words.
Sorry someone had to die but this adds a level of authenticity to the show God damn. Not as cool as Brandon Lee in The Crow but it's in the convo.
Buckle the fuck up nerds this shit is landing November 16.
Lol at this revisionist history.......looks like good entertainment tho....
So, wow.
I wasnt initially sure I'd stick with, after the first episode. Diego Luna just didnt seem... right. I was wrong.
Glad I was wrong.
Anyways, the violence ramps up as the episodes go by, culminating in some gruesome to watch scenes. Ep. 8 and 9 especially. If you haven't watched, be ready.
Rafa and Neto scenes are god.
Long live narcos. Obv El Chapo is next.
literally watched the first ep last night and im pretty fucking intrigued.
its kind of amazing that these guys are putting together such a consistent brand.
Are you guys serious? The title alone tells you you are watching and endless loop of predictable slop
So how do they cut a guy's head off in season three better than one or two?
I could write the whole thing in a day but it would be a waste of a day.
fast forwarding through every scene with Michael Peña is working out realllllll nice so far.
mike pena is a literal god and is amazing in this show the real issue
THE REAL ISSUE PEOPLE is diego lunas suits look like they were tailored today and not 1984 and its fucking distracting
like the rest of the production design is impeccable
weird pacing, kinda drawn out.
also iirc what they did to the dea agent in real life was much, much, much more brutal.
also it felt kinda like a long commercial for the rest of the mexico seasons where everything goes full breaking bad.
I really really really liked this season.
I’d roll with Don Neto any day.
I do think it’s kind of interesting that the take away at the end was the DEA declared war on Mexico.
mehico part 2 is live.
and naturally its pretty fucking great.
segue's reaaaaaal nice into Sicario.
I'm waiting to see if Mulva says it's faggot or not
I gave the show a pretty harsh review without watching it. I just watched season one on a binge.
I did like it. It's good entertainment. The subject matter bothers me in the fact that it glorifies the horrible when innocents have suffered and still do. I don't know if I'll watch much more because I kind of know the story
I'd like to see a real historic version in a documentary
That Michael Pena dude has a perpetually dumb look on his face. Could easily do without him
so anyone else having serious issues with the subtitles? i only see 75% of them. it's infuriating
I thought you were a Mexican Jew?
So I’m done with season 2. I’ll hold off on any major comments for a while.
Solid content but not a good as the first 4 seasons.
i definitely have some complaints as well.
- it felt drawn out, lotta filler. and not like good, tense, pacing filler. there were a lot of just 'this isnt what im here for' moments.
- i was never really sure when anything was taking place because of course it basically jumps back halfway into the original columbia narcos series when pablo was still alive. so the timeline was super weird to me.
- lots of genuinely bad gunfight choreography.
- lotta 'yeah so im guessing that totally didnt happen' moments which is lame considering how much incredible shit did actually happen.
honestly im very glad it exists and i had a great time watching it but the whole thing feels like a teaser for whats coming, which is going to be Sicario grade ultraviolence on an absolutely unimaginable scale. and im fucking hear for that.
LOL,
I'd say 0, especially NOW that he hates De Niro, only because he makes fun of the President.
Seriously, how would it be possible to be more of a snowflake than that?
And as the show being exciting enough or not, this is based on a true story, so if they stuck to the truth, I'm ok w/less action.
Recreations are cool like the 1st scene in Saving Private Ryan, but I don't really even like action scenes anymore, as they are all fake.
I like intrigue of shows like that, so I'd have more of a problem if they made it exciting just for the Dick flick guys.
like i get that we wanted to over-humanize these people to help contrast the mass psychosis thats on its way but uuuuuugggggggggh.
whatever you want to call this im going with unequivocal success theres been no other show where its like episode 5 and im like DONT GOOGLE SHIT CUZ SPOILERS
also any and all scoot mcnairy is fire
also they got my note and they toned down his pants leg tapering to appropriate 80s era shit
