Had my best session in a long time tonight, just play casually at khanawakee card room when i get the time twice a month maybe. I Play very pot control see lots of streets low variance style, that works very well at the place i play. I win like 8-10 sessions (not bragging), but any way i won $800 in 4 and half hrs with $100 buy in. I know I know thats peanuts in poker terms but the style i play is very low variance.
So, just curious how much was it and how long was the session........
3200 was my biggest win and next biggest around 1200. The 3200 was a 3 way pot where I flopped the nut flush vs second nut flush vs set, 2 of us were deep and the other reasonably deep, it all went in on the flop and I help up. I also play a very low variance style live at the 1/2 here in Calgary (best game anywhere). If any of you like to party and play some insanely good games come to Calgary during the Calgary Stampede, live NL games do not get any better in the world that I've seen. Tons of games going 24/7, 1/2, 2/5, some 5/10 and it's a lot of rich, drunk oil guys and hammered tourists. The Stampede Casino has the most popular stampede time bar right in it and is also a short walk away from the beer gardens inside the stampede grounds.Quote:

Bought in 1/2 with 200 bucks, cashed out just over 2200, ran like a god and had some terrible players at the table. Biggest pot of the night I had 900 and he had me covered, got it all in preflop with AK and he ended up calling with KQ saying he thought I had JJ. Flop ran out AAK and it was over.
A little over 1.2k playing 1-2 PLO. Was lucky enough to stack three people and win some other good hands.
Was this guy a complete spew tard or something? Why are you wanting to get 450bb's in pre flop with A,K at the 1/2? Usually at the 1/2 nobody 3 bets anything weaker than queens+. This must have been player dependant?Quote:

I'm guessing he just doesnt play a lot of 1/2 live? Those games are as good as possible, if someone plays a pot controlling, low variance style having a high % of booked wins is completely reasonable. It's not like online poker, there is way less variance, you always are super comfortable knowing where guys are at etc.Quote:

I actually stayed at that dump for almost 2 weeks while in Vegas for some job training. I was mainly there for sleep only, but did head down to the poker room 5 or 6 times because it was so convenient.

I play at the Stampede Casino in Calgary, like I said earlier in the thread, best games I've ever seen. Guys will 3 bet lighter than queens plus if stacks are not deep but if anyone is over 100bb's deep you rarely see guys making moves pre. Everyone plays fairly passive, they want to see flops etc. There is a lot of money here in Calgary, a lot of oil money and the Casino is right near the heart of the business area as well as the Stampede grounds. Old guys cruise in after work, while travelling here for work and half of the 1/2 tables are always full of passive businessmen who call a ton pre, never 3 bet and never fold top pair.Quote:

I made 25 hundred in what would be 1.5-3 nl, not bad really considering I drank over a liter of vodka in the session.

I am very similar to the OP. I probably book wins at $1/$2 70-80% of the time and only play once a month or twice at the most. $1/$2 live is quite simply the easiest game in the world to beat. Nearly everyone in the game on a Friday or Saturday night has little to no idea what they are doing and are drunk and looking for a good time. I have won many pots where i called off light thinking there was no way I could possibly be ahead with top pair weak kicker or 2nd pair, etc and the noobs cant imagine there pocket Jacks are no good on the KQ983 three diamond board.
Every AC casino that I've played at $300 is the max buy-in with $60 as the min. I see people buy in for $100 to $150 all the time.Quote:

The 1/2 game at my casino plays like .5/.10 online. I play on the pokertek tables so we get a lot more hands it per hour. I honestly think people play a little looser than with actual chips cuz you just have to push a button to call rather then count out the chips.

2300 hundy when the game was 1-2 100max, 20 hour sess. 1900 when the game progressed to 200max. The 1800 was a 8-10 hour sess where I was dealt AA nine times and got it in pre seven of the nine times and they held all but one. The one being vs KK for a 1300+ pot. Twas a siqq card rack night.

yeah, the targets at the games I play, the business guys who come to play and have fun don't even think to 3 bet with anything but queens plus, in fact a lot of them think A,K is a terrible hand and just limp call with it. I wouldnt be very excited to play a $1800 pot at the 1/2 all in pre with A,K against the giant majority of 1/2 players in the games here in Calgary.Quote:

It was a 1-3 game at the TI during the WSOP back in 07, $2,550. Crazy thing was 80% of it was one multiway hand. Won with J-2 in the big blind on a Ja-5x-2s flop vs K-K, Q-Q and As-5s. I made an awful call for $47 when the SB with K-K flatted.
Besides that hand the crazy part of “the experience” (it was my first wsop) was Johnny Chan was selling autographed shit they had hanging up at the TI and he came in to check in it. Would have thought Jesus Christ walked in the door.
