Unclear why the Mets invited her.

In Hawk Tuah's defense (real name Hailey Welch), she has mostly been clean and wholesome in her various media appearances since the viral video, and seems to have a particular interest in promoting animal rescue charities.

I have to say that it's a very strange look, though, for the Mets to invite her to throw out the first pitch because.... she's famous for talking about giving blow jobs?

Saw them last night it’s a pretty great show. Went with my wife but still also gay.

Master Scalir is a big fan of theirs.

Anyway, back to the topic. Unsurprisingly, the Hawk Tuah girl didn't cash. By her own admission, she barely knows how to play.

Who won? It was actually a onetime PFA Radio guest. Slot Youtuber Vegas Matt took down the title.

Is this a big deal for Matt? Not really. It was only $20k, and Vegas Matt plays very high in most of his streams, where 20k can vanish within a few minutes. It probably helped him a little with publicity, though.

Which "celebrities" were there? Dwight Howard, Blac Chyna, Steiny, and Ethan Klein were all there. Qiyu ‘Nemo’ Zhou, the chess influencer who fell into controversy in 2022 due to a WPT seat contest rigged for her boyfriend, finished second. PFA was the main poker media covering that story.

Telli Swift, an Instagram model, finsihed 8th. She was in the news recently for filing a restraining order against boxer Deontay Wilder for allegedly beating her. She and Wilder had been engaged.

Overall it was a pretty sad "celebrity invitational" if most of the players weren't even Wikipedia worthy. Seriously! Most of them are not notable enough to have a Wikipedia page about them.

Vegas Matt is a more understandable choice, as there is obviously some crossover between the poker and slot YouTube fanbases. But gone are the days when we see high level celebrities play in these sort of tournaments, like in the 2000s. The interest just isn't there anymore, and I think the celebrities more fear making a fool of themselves rather than joining in what was once a big trend.

Notice that once again, the Hawk Tuah girl comes off the opposite of sexual. It's sometimes tough for me to square her more recent interviews with the original one which went viral. I guess she's going more for the "sweet, down-to-earth southern girl" image than what she was originally known for. Good choice on her part not to date poker players, though.

Too bad Playboy magazine has died, she would have def been a special feature there.

I miss the good ole days when Dave Foley would get progressively drunker with each celebrity poker showdown episode.

Phil Gordon actually did a pretty good job of explaining the game for beginners.

And the celebs, while C and D listers were at least familiar.

Just looked through the list of players first episode had Ben Affleck, Don Cheadle, Emily Procter, Willie Garson and David Schwimmer….probably the most well known table for the show.
