I'm not sure why everybody seems to think Obama is so gay friendly. He has basically identical positions on gay issues that Dick Cheney has. My comment was a factual one. I saw the number and there is no doubt whatsoever that it is a good number for Obama. Pooh correctly stated that it was going to be difficult for Obama with unemployment over 8%. In addition, the number is good for the collective psyche of the American people. Barack Obama has said that he is personally pro-gay marriage, but that his view will not affect his policy decisions. In other words, he's personally for gay marriage, but he's not going to push for any type of change on the issue. When he was running in 2008 he was against gay marriage (as was Clinton and Edwards). Dick Cheney is also personally pro-gay marriage, although he hasn't done much to personally fight for gay marriage to be legalized, but I think if he were given the opportunity to vote on the issue, he would vote in favor of gay marriage being legalized. Like Obama, he used to be against gay marriage before he went in to the WH, but later changed his views on the issue. He says he had a long conversation with his daughter (who is gay) about the issue, and in the end she made him change his mind. I respect him a lot for that.Quote:
