Imo, the number one issue for 2020 will be the economy. But i don't think the debate over the economy will be as good for trump as he probably believes even if the stock market does well.
People vote for hope and change. It worked for obama. It worked for trump. After 4 years, voters will be able to see what's changed for them. If you're on Wall Street, you've probably done well. If you're the average trump voter (or average american in general), your life has probably not changed much.
The dems can then play the classic "us against them" argument -- i.e., "look at how well the trump tax cuts helped the wealthy. Now tell me if your life has improved. What do your medical expenses look like? How about your student loans?" Etc., etc. i'm not saying the dems are advancing great solutions for these issues. I'm just saying the dems will have powerful talking points.

just a quick reminder that the only reason 'the wall' is a thing is because trump's original advisors during the campaign realized he was mentally handicapped, so they invented 'the wall' to keep him on focus with their anti-immigration message.

I said this a year or so ago, I'll say it again, if that wall is built by the beginning of the 2020 election, you can pretty much bet your life on the President winning the 2020 elections. The wall being built, along with an upward trend in the economy and the President can walk up to Alexandria Ocasio Cortez and grab her by the pussy and still win. The president knows how important that wall is if he wants to get reelected, he understands that will solidify his win, that's why he's fighting so hard for it, which only tells me he really is considering a second term.
