It is perfectly reasonable to be rehashing the frightening event in one’s head while trying to get somewhere, and after getting to where one feels safe, then rehash it even more, which further imprints the traumatic event ibto one’s memory and pushes away/drowns out the memory of subsequent events if not immediately jogged of them.
All three eyewitnesses, even a close personal friend to Ford (to this day), specifically say they don't recall this event. Her friend not only said she doesn't remember the event but she went further and said that she has never met Kavanaugh and was never at a party with him.
Why would people who didn’t have a traumatic event remember what was likely one of many such parties 30+ odd years ago? And none of them were in the room, and Ford didn’t say that she stayed there. Hell, I’ve been to many drinking parties where I can’t recall who was there or anything material happening unless it happened specifically to me or someone I was with where it was traumatic.
She has changed her story about what happened after the alleged assault. That she heard the guys talking and laughing downstairs to she couldn't hear anything in the bathroom.
She refused to show her Therapy Notes to the Senate presumably because they won't back her ever changing story.
P.S. Also, victims of abuse often try to bury the memories for years out of shame. I did reguarding sexual abuse I suffered at the hands of my own brothers. And it took therapy for me to even remember it almost two decades later. And even then, I didn’t tell anyone for years after that, probably another 20 years. And only a few people very close to me. Which is why this story rings true to me.
