This BJ lad would present me a hypothetical problem , if I had been at the table and he asked me , I would have probably have staked him on a straight forward give it me back if you win but if he had lost I would be more than certain I wouldnÂ’t have asked for the money back unless he offered 😳 As it happened he didnÂ’t ask so it doesnÂ’t matter , but it shows how
ItÂ’s probably a good job that I donÂ’t get involved in those potential situations in a live casino 🎰
It really depends on the casino and the floor person's leniency. I would almost always buy those double downs and splits in a heart beat if someone is short. And only 1 instance out of 100 did the floor person object and said "You can't play his hand".
But as I've described earlier, it has resulted in a dispute after the hand was completed where the person felt they didn't have to give me my full compensation for taking the risk on the hand. So now, I go by how simpatico I am with the individual placing the bet. If the person is cool and easy going & won't put up a stink, then I will lend them money and tell them "whatever happens, we split the money okay?" To which they usually agree and no further incident occurs.
In the case of $500 bet lad, he was super quiet, made some questionable plays prior to the big hand, such as standing on hard 12-13 vs dealer 7 AND dealer 10 respectively. He also split 7's TWICE vs a dealer 10 and stood on hard 16, hard 15 and hard 13 on that very hand. So needless to say, he may not have been all there or understood the concept of me buying the hand for my own gain and not just his benefit.
