Jesus Christ. Glad I didn't sell at 70 after all.

That's about 2 Billion dollars in market cap now. Some quick research shows that the United States did about $250 Billion in e-commerce in 2012. This year it's expected to be about $1.3 trillion globally.

Assuming we don't see government intervention or catastrophic events in the next year or two, how high can BTC go? $1,000 is starting to look realistic.

Technically that cap won't be reached for another 125 years. However, because the difficulty increase is exponential, 20.3 million of those coins will be mined by 2024. So you could consider that a soft cap, since very few coins will be added to circulation from then on. If bitcoin is still around by that point, I guess deflation will just continue to get worse. This is why some people speculate that the price could theoretically get absurdly high.
