I'm glad that the Army is marketing to 110-pound young women who have two moms and march for social justice.
Even China has been laughing at the recent US Army wokeness.
Why is the Army going woke?
They don't have much choice.
Previously they were getting most of their recruits by appealing to the hyper-masculine, aggressive dudes who loved the idea of fighting, being tough, and shooting guns.
Today it is hammered into boys that such behaviors are indicative of "toxic masculinity", so there aren't enough of these type of guys anymore to recruit for the Army. In order to fill the ranks, now they need to make it look like the Army is a sensitive place which supports woke thinking, so they can draw in some of that crowd, in order to replace the previous type of recruits which exist in much smaller numbers now.
This is one of the many unfortunate results of the attempt to suppress natural tendencies of boys and girls, for the supposed sake of "equality".
Another unfortunate result of all this is the fact that today's young males have a much reduced desire for sex and dating, compared to previous modern generations. Boys are inundated with so many scary messages about "sexual harassment" to the point where many have been conditioned to stay away from real women, and to get their satisfaction via easily accessible porn.
Sometimes "progress" is actually regression.
lol motherfuckers that never joined the military talking about how things are in the military, holy shit you people are fucking clueless. The Army is the army and its gonna keep doing what it does and training young men and women to fight for our freedoms/oil. Regardless, while the military is a microcosm of society and we see general norms and mores get adapted, there is still gonna be the macho types joining en masse. They are always going to outnumber "woke" women (lol I dont even know wtf you mean here but I'll play along) by a healthy margin.
USMC had problems like this in the 90's, they tried recruiting the all American football star clean cut church going motherfuckers but quickly realized that if they want a badass fighting force that was capable they would have to widen the range because they simply weren't getting enough Johnny Cleancut to fill the ranks.
You're basically saying what I'm saying.
The army can't get enough tough dudes to join anymore, because a lot of these guys (or their parents) have been brainwashed to suppress so-called "toxic masculinity". So as you said, the Army must "widen the range", and appeal to people who otherwise would have dismissed a potential career there.
The problem is that the quality of troops goes down when you start recruiting people who really aren't Army material. When they're trying to appeal to prissy, 110-pound SJW chicks to join up, you know they're scraping the bottom of the recruitment barrel.
I don't even blame them. If they can't get enough recruits, they gotta do what they gotta do.
It's just very sad that woke society has overcorrected perceived injustices, to the point where natural tendencies along gender lines are suppressed and shamed, and to where people have been brainwashed into believing that they must be transgender or nonbinary if they happen to have a few nontraditional characteristics.
The last decade has really been a disaster in this regard. We're living in a weird society where defining people by race is the norm again, where young men would rather jerk off than "risk" asking a real woman out, and where claiming you have gender dysphoria is a status symbol.
What a clusterfuck.
Didn't expect beta incel Facebook to go after the military but triggers and all.
LOL Fredo getting dragged for this -
His whole persona is hilarious; despite a successful career just gives off pure inferiority complex 24/7.
yeah we're really not though. You're saying that trying to recruit woke people is gonna hurt the Army; I'm letting you know the Army & the military in general will be fine no matter how woke society gets. The pearl clutching by the clueless people that never served in the military happens every time society starts shifting values. Back in my day it was the gays cannot serve or we will have serious problems. Now the gays are serving and they are doing fanfuckingtastic despite all of the pearl clutching from the (mostly) clueless civvies that thought it would bring about our military's downfall.

Yeah I don't understand the uproar over "cancel culture". Last time I checked it's a sign of a healthy civilization to ostracize the dirt worst. It'd be much more concerning if a civilization embraced its terrible people and celebrated their terribleness. I mean we have a real world example of what happens when you don't cancel pieces of trash...it's called the modern day GOP and you get stuck with Jewish space laser nonsense, products of incest in congress, traitors plus more traitors, Ted Cruz, a self-admitted sex criminal as the leader, etc.
So long story short, quit being whiny snowflakes and don't be afraid to tell assholes to get fucked, especially when they're on your team.
You literally don't understand what cancel culture is, or are pretending not to.
Cancel culture does not mean "consequences for doing or saying bad things", even if some who are facing such consequences try to wrongly blame "cancel culture" for their predicament.
Cancel culture is actually the punishment of people for expressing a differing viewpoint regarding social political issues, and suffering severe career and reputational consequences for expressing such viewpoints. Note that the viewpoints I'm talking about are ones held by a sizable portion of the population, not extreme fringe ones.
Another form of cancel culture involves extreme career/social consequences for a post/statement/tweet made in a different era, or when the person was a teenager.
Cancel culture can come for someone who is famous, or an ordinary person. For example, if I had a Silicon Valley tech job at this point (which would be very possible had I not found poker 20 years ago), and I expressed mainstream conservative views on Twitter, there's a good chance I'd be fired or denied promotions because of such views. That would also be cancel culture.
But don't take my word for it. Noam Chomsky and 150 other liberal intellectuals also recently decried cancel culture.
People on the left love to say, "It's not cancel culture to have to face the consequences for inappropriate things you say or do", because half are being intellectually dishonest, and the other half are morons.
Which one are you, rum dick?
