fuck it, money where my mouth is.
Am I missing something here or is this whole $100 preorder bullshit a huge red flag that spells possible fraud/market manipulation?
Come on now. Most people on this planet could literally shit out $100 if they pushed hard enough.
So Tony Bags says it's now up to 232k orders
Ok, so I just briefly glanced at an article that said at 142,000 orders the value was roughly $8 Billion Dollars
So based on that, if it's now at 232k orders, that tells me it would theoretically have to be somewhere in the neighborhood of $12.7 Billion.
And its FULLY REFUNDABLE
So, now what is this going to do to the stock price? Are shady market makers going to use this as another tool to mess around with Tesla stock prices even more?
That stock has already been manipulated as fuck. What now?
the pre-orders have generated almost $15 million in capital. assuming a full third of those orders cancel, they still came up with $10,000,000 in like 24 hours despite one of the more disastrous product launches in modern history.
its unlikely these numbers are going to greatly influence the stock prices, they represent a drew drop in an ocean, but its a good look. and good looks influence perception. increasing stock value.
two things are telling me the stock is going to recover quickly;
1) it only dropped half as much as i honestly expected it to.
2) thats a lotta preorders, people do not hate this thing.
if it drops again monday, like i said, im willing to get my balls wet at 318 or better, but i think its going to be another slow glide upwards as the european/asian numbers start to come in and the model y becomes more relevant.
the steering wheel HAS GOT TO GO
the truck is growing on me a bit, i don't dislike it as much as i originally
especially with a matte black option - that would make it look like a bat mobile
i still don't think you'll actually see one on the road until 2022, maybe even 2023 for the tri-motor versions
like i mentioned before, making this in china, and with all it's straight lines, they could make these SUPER cheap
and profitability is something they've been truly lacking on some other models
my biggest concern is how wide it is. trying to park sounds fucking awful if its as wide as it looked from inside.
steering wheel struck me as odd as well, im sure there will be after market options tho.
i ordered the tri-drive for the simple reason that its got 500+ miles range.
they will have a year or two to figure some things, like the steering wheel
and twitter is their focus group, so you never know what the end product will be
and nothing wrong with taking a flyer on it since it only costs you $100 to get in line, and it's fully refundable
if they ever get the full self driving down, with it's room, it could make a hell of a robo-taxi
If this thing won't be delivered until 2023, why is there a steering wheel at all? Very dated
It looks like shit. Just one of those "concept vehicles" that will never get made.
Telsa will never be able to produce anything close to 140,000 trucks.
A few people "hope" to get a truck just so they can resell it at a huge price and most people who deposited $100 can't afford the purchase price of the vehicle anyway.
This is just a scam by Telsa to get free publicity and cash to bump up their stock value.
Maybe instead of going to Mars, Elon Musk can go to prison.

Here's the Mercedes-Benz self driving car from a few years ago...guess what? It never got made except for the one concept car here.
Anyone want to buy one for a $100 refundable deposit?

whats becoming aware to me is that there are a lot of affluent closet-survivalists who see this vehicle as something safe to escape the collapse of civilization with.
We need a zombie proof vehicle so we can survive the zombie apocalypse.

so according to my math, if half the pre-orders actually purchase and exactly no one else purchases one ever, tesla has a 5% market share for trucks, which is intense.
5% market share for trucks LOL
FOR ONE YEAR! After which major drop off no doubt.
Give it up, this "thing" is a non starter for many practical reasons, like I dunno wipers, windows that do break for safety and on and on.
He literally did this for the mems at this point, not saying Tesla wont build A truck but this one exactly, no. Couple that with no profits and taking on more debt to manufacture it, if it failed, Tesla fails further.
SHORT TESLA
Good article from Tech Crunch will practical questions and concerns. Read that and realize you've been tricked by a business.

interesting article. definitely backs up willie's assertion that all the bizarro lines might be a deliberate effort to simplify manufacturing.
they also bring up the street-legal issues but make it clear that this is a prototype plus the laws might be changing soon (video screen making mirrors redundant?).
basically if you read between the lines, musk is challenging a manufacturing paradigm that hasnt really been challenged all that much since 1901 or so. and because its so built in to us to assume that the auto industry is somehow a gold standard that cant be improved, a lot of people are losing their shit and calling it all witchcraft/fraud/whathaveyou.
but yeah if you were to tow a 2nd solar charger, you could travel from portland to los angeles in about a month for absolutely no money. the sun would literally power that entire trip. a month is a long time but imagine that experience.
“In the world I see you are stalking elk through the damp canyon forests around the ruins of Rockefeller Center. You'll wear leather clothes that will last you the rest of your life. You'll climb the wrist-thick kudzu vines that wrap the Sears Towers. And when you look down, you'll see tiny figures pounding corn, laying stripes of venison on the empty car pool lane of some abandoned superhighways.”

tesla batteries with average use degrade about 1% a year; a 7 year old tesla has 93% of its original range potential.
RIP

Martin Eberhard
The Fight Club quote reminds me that our peculiar economic times have indulged Musk and his customers. Consider the Tesla timeline (origin story) and if you aren’t struck then I can only applaud your naive enthusiasm
Post 2007 has been extraordinary and weird
This is another fun timeline
Do you have knowledge about other similar sized companies and their executives average tenure? Sales and Marketing individuals very rarely stay long in one company but I cannot attest to general counsel and those other positions. VP of HR and Head of Diversity? (LOL). From my experience in the C level/SVP/VP space, Directors rarely have any decision making power and are usually under the VP and even AVP of Fortune 500 companies. Sounds nice but nothing more than a title. Just because executives are leaving might mean that they are getting better financial opportunities elsewhere and are deemed valuable because of their time at Tesla. #justsaying
Elon Tusk is god
tesla just isnt a company where c and d level employees get fortune 500 level packages. and thats a positive. but yeah, its hardly surprising that these people were either forced out because of the compensation packages or were lured away by much more substantial ones.
Tesla Cybertruck: 231.5 inches long, 79.8 inches wide, 75 inches tall, 6.5-foot bed
2020 Ford F-150 XL: 209 inches long, 80 inches wide, 75 inches tall, 5.5-foot bed
2020 Dodge Ram 1500: 229 inches long, 82 inches wide, 77 inches tall, 5.6-foot bed
also 250k preorders as of a few hours ago.
elon is literally the offspring of howard hughes and steve jobs and tesla is without question the new apple.
Elon Musk smokes some more marijuana and describes what's next for Tesla.

Ok who hacked Sonatines account?
This brother been hacked or is trippin ballz n elonmeth.
You just posted sizes for a truck that was CLEARLY not on show, look at the cyber vs f150 rope drag, that sucker is GIGANTIC not a mere inches here and there. Again, drink the kool aid, that is NOT the truck you will get if you get it at all or Tesla isn't in bankruptcy first.
His recent optimism and first level enthusiasm begs the question. Honestly been wondering.
He’s hawking an imminent Bitcoin long, all this Elon ball washing and the Warren thing is collectively creating vertigo and a loss of appetite.
I’d rather believe he’s been hacked. Kid was bound to lose his stamina
so i take it you guys didnt jump in at 260 when i suggested?
must be rough.
U guyz see latest Rick and Morty?
what's really alarming in the number of senior accounting staff that have BAILED. I believe the new CFO of this company worth tens of billions on paper is like 32 years old. when your top accounting talent is leaving and then their replacements don't last a year, that's not a good look. no one wants to be in charge of their books when the other shoe drops
