Where this has gone sideways is Israel’s vicious and criminal response. Indiscriminate bombing of civilians. The US “often” didn’t do this in Iraq or Afghanistan. We put on our helmets and Kevlar and fought door to door. There is a code for how war is conducted that has existed for civilized countries for all of history. It’s a fundamental morality and Israel has violated the world’s basic sense of humanity and the Israel blowback is resulting in all kinds of visceral responses across the globe.
We don’t simply abide by the rules of engagement because we are civilized but because we have paid a huge price in the past when we did shit like napalming and bombing civilians in Viet Nam. Americans were disgusted and trust in government was never the same. You don’t get a free pass. You can chisel the American institution away bit by bit and end up a footnote in history books. As can the state of Israel.
The people of a Israel need to arrest Bibi and save themselves and their future on the world stage. Kinda not sure what they are waiting for. The world will not view Israel the same way for decades - if ever.
Apparently, Biden disagrees with every decision Bibi has made but will still back him up financially and militarily which seems absurd. Binden and Blinken hold the cards but they are the greatest examples of stupid and reptilian neocon reflex.
