Power of negative thinking
One pick today for NBA
Clippers vs. Houston - Under 221.5
Not much to say. Golf has been one dick in the ass after another with a few exceptions. Glad I didn’t post my matchups today, they all flamed out late. I watched every shot by Rahm today. Guy was solid. He gets some rolling in, he can go low. I got some on him at 40-1, unfortunately him missing the birdie on 18 cost +1000 in equity. He’s 50-1 now. We’ll have to go low and no one can run and hide whose way up in the pack. But I think 50-1, for the way he’s playing is acceptable. Obviously he may go for it and play aggressive and we know how that has gone so far at the Masters this year. But I do see some +EV at the 50-1 number.
I gave some thought to shipping in a dime on JT. I think he is the most likely winner. His odds are not all that terrible tbh. However, I just don’t want to risk big money for the weekend with all the guys in contention. I know Rahm is truly a 50-1 shot or close to it. I rather just take a guy cheap and hope he fails his exam or comes close to it tommorow (66,65 or 64 one time).
GL everyone.
Lost my only pick (NBA) yesterday. Sadly, I was a hair away from taking the New Orleans moneyline, but didn't because of injury questions. They won.
Anyway, here's some early day MLB:
Yankees (German) -114 at Tampa Bay (Archer)
Seattle (Kikuchi) +160 at Minnesota (Pineda)
St. Louis (C. Martinez) -108 vs. Milwaukee (Houser)
Some notes:
Kikuchi is throwing over 97 mph and struck out 10 in his last outing. This Japanese transplant has been a disappointment so far, but this looks like his breakout year. He looked great in the spring. Pineda had a .378 batting average against in the spring, though he looked decent in his first regular season outing.
Chris Archer is a complete mess. Didn't pitch in 2020, pitched poorly in 2019, and looked pretty bad in his first start. Domingo German didn't do great in his first start, but he was stellar in the spring.
Judge and Urshela are questionable for the Yankees, and the Rays are without Kevin Kiermaier and Ji-Man Choi. Donaldson is out for the Twins. Goldschmidt is probable for the Cards.
All of these games are in the morning.
Lol..... nice job CNN
One NBA so far:
Cleveland vs. Toronto - Over 219 (VanVleet out, Allen out, Nance out, Lowry questionable)
Conners is my saver. Got him for 25 bucks at +8000. Then he holed it out and I got him at +3300 for a $100. Last horse. Last chance.

Well, I squeaked by without disaster in MLB, and only took a small loss. Seattle won (on the road!) in extras, so that +160 negates the two losses. Archer came out in the 3rd due to injury, and the Yankees bats were asleep anyway. He didn't have a chance to melt down. St. Louis/Mil game was close until late, but somehow Avisail Garcia was hitting the ball hard today.
Anyway, here's one more:
Arizona (R. Smith) +119 vs. Cincinnati (J. Hoffman)
Look up Jeff Hoffman's career numbers and his 2021 spring numbers. Ignore his last start.
Toronto scored 87 in the first half.
If that over doesn't win, I should quit NBA.
Ended up being a decent day. Won both underdogs in baseball and lost both small favorites, but that 2-2 translates to a win thanks to which teams won. So I was up 0.79 units there.
NBA I won my only pick, and that was an obvious winner after Toronto scored 87 in the first half.
I'm up in MLB so far, but have been inconsistent. I feel much better in the NBA, where I am seeing it very well as of late. I'm a good deal up overall in NBA, and will post my full record later on.
I haven't posted any MLB totals plays yet because those have too much variance in the early season. As the season wears on, I'll start posting more of those.
NBA
Memphis -3 vs. Indiana (Turner out, -3.5 ok)
Clippers vs. Detroit - Under 216 (Grant questionable, Kawhi out, Beverley out, Ibaka out, Rondo questionable)
MLB
Minnesota (M. Shoemaker) vs. Seattle (Flexen) - Under 8.5 -110 (up to -115 ok)
Colorado (Marquez) +114 at San Francisco (DeSclafani)
Today is my first totals pick. Decided to start slow with these in MLB.
Well looks like when the dust settles smith will finish top 10. Can’t really explain what happened after hitting the eagle on 13 to pull into second place but I don’t think it really mattered considering what we are seeing from Hideki.
I hope they hang him at 75-1 again next year.
Congrats Hideki Matsuyama!
Might have been one of the very best results for Vegas.
Kind of unbelievable that Hideki just won and the broadcast can’t stop talking about Zal
What a time to be alive
I thought the “more rake better” would be the top billboard in Vegas history but apparently I was wrong.
Well, I had a day like this coming.
0-2 in both sports
:fail
Okay, I got punched in the nose by both sports yesterday, but here we go again.
Two NBA picks.
Houston at Phoenix - Over 229
Denver -4.5 at Golden State
B Grace shouldn't be 80-1 this week.
Ugh. The ol' Golden State 3rd quarter beatdown.
I guess they still have it in 'em. 1-1 day, as the Houston over easily won.
Lots of time to bet this one:
Portland vs. Boston - Over 230
MLB
Miami (P. Lopez) +149 at Atlanta (Fried)
Two more
Utah vs. OKC - Under 222
Clippers vs. Indiana - Over 233
Blue Horseshoe loves (well likes) S.Y. Kim 10-1.
Well I hope you rode along today, smiflorida.
Won the +149 Miami Marlins pick, won my first 2 NBA games, and the last NBA game (BOS/POR) is leaning toward a win in the 4th (live lined at 238.5 total, need 231 to win and 230 to tie).
Bizarre game with Boston/Portland. Scoring was weak in the 4th and I thought I was going to end up getting screwed.
113-112 with 8.5 seconds left, needing 230 to tie. Boston, with the ball and the 1-point lead, had wasted all the time they could, and Tatum took a tough 26-foot shot with a guy in his face at the last second, and HIT.
Still 116-112 and needing Portland to score. Norman Powell sunk a 31-foot (!!) three with 5.4, and the total was 231. So obviously at that point I could relax and the victory was sealed. But I kept watching the game just for fun.
Down 116-115, after an intentional foul, Marcus Smart missed BOTH free throws, but Portland couldn't score in the final 3.5, especially with no timeouts left, and that ended up being the final.
Squeaked by with the narrow win, to have a perfect 3-0 NBA day and 1-0 +149 MLB day.
MLB
Phladelphia (Wheeler) -113 at NY Mets (D. Peterson)
Cincinnati (Mahle) -107 at San Francisco (Cueto)
Got two in the NBA
Indiana at Houston - Over 233.5 (House out, McDermott & Turner questionable)
Washington -2.5 at Sacramento (Holmes doubtful, Hield questionable)
The Brooklyn game is worth watching, as 5 players are questionable, including Durant and Kyrie who have a major impact on the scoring. Steve Kerr has already hinted that both stars might be out (Kyrie has weird "personal issues", and Durant might get rest in this back-to-back), Aldridge is sick, and Griffin may get rest as well. Reserve Chiozza hurt his hand, and may not be available, which would be notable if so many other players are missing. Right now I'm not going to fire on it, but I might go under later.
Another NBA
Detroit vs. Clippers - Under 218.5
Also, despite the loss of a point since I last posted, I've decided to gamble on the Philly under.
Philadelphia vs. Brooklyn - Under 226.5
Okay, a fifth NBA game:
Denver -5 vs. Miami (-5.5 ok)
Goes to show no matter how smart you think you are you are only a few seconds away from doing something stupid.
A few years ago I took a day trip from Munich to Austria. It was an incredible day and Salzburg is a place I would recommend visiting to anyone. What I thought was funny was some local had these printed up on t shirts and refrigerator magnets, one I proudly display on mine.
Guy I follow gave me a name for the Australian Open this weekend. I put it in for a few bucks. I just went to try and find an app for the Australian PGA so I could track and I couldn’t find the Australian open anywhere.
Yeah asshole it’s the Austrian Open.
RICHARD MCEVOY Is the play for what it’s worth.
That front nine is sexy AF. Going to need to get those birdie strings going to get the hell out of Brick City.
Good NBA day so far, not so good in MLB.
Bricked both MLB games pretty badly, with 1 run scored total for me. Ugh.
Lost first NBA game, too, with the Brooklyn under easily losing, despite the fact that only Kyrie of those questionable players suited up.
However, the Indiana over won by a mile (even with the 233.5 line), the Clippers under threatened OT but managed to barely avoid it, easily covering. So that put me at 2-1 in NBA.
Washington up by 10 at halftime, Denver up by 11 in the third. If both can hold, that'll be 4-1 in the NBA.
I'm going to make some tweaks to my MLB strategy, which hopefully will fix my inconsistent results thus far. As you can see, NBA has been consistently good for past 4 weeks.
Yup, 4-1 in NBA, with none being close, and now I'm 7-1 in the past 2 days in NBA.
I'm not even that excited because I bricked MLB so badly today. Gotta fix that. I'm 1-4 in my last 5 picks, even though I'm only 0.6 units down in MLB overall. I'm going to work on this tonight and try to plug the holes in my strategy.
I'm now 33-14 since March 21 in NBA.
