1) they believed him because they are poorly educated and have no capacity for critical thought

2) their lives are vestigial relics of a time when blue collar manufacturing jobs were the pillars of middle class economy, and hillary offered them nothing to remediate that (because of course nothing can be done to remediate that beyond telling them to take some personal responsibility and compete with the job market that exists, not the one they were promised by their own hubris and ignorance).

the republican party has been gutting education and the arts, because it keeps their flock predictable, terrified, and easily manipulated. if you dont believe that to be the case, then yes of course you would consider my perspective arrogant, but given that my agenda is inherently good for the planet and our species, and the current agenda relies on the forbearance of an invisible sky dad to save us while we do our absolute damndest to destroy our natural resources to line the pockets of the 1% of the 1%, i (and the rest of the planet btw) regard it as the opposite of arrogant to not just dismiss their concerns, but call them out at every opportunity.

44% of the passengers dont vote.

35% of the passengers vote for the con artist, and he wins.

do you respect democracy in action there? did it work? do you feel safe as the plane lurches down the runway?

Not only that, it's pretty obvious Trump wanted to make a splash with a military operation early so he would look tough and manly because his supporters wanted him to kick some ass. So he asks a friendly general if they've got anything ready to go quickly they could dust off, and this is the best they could come up with.

Do you really thing a middle class factory worker/office manager whose job has been outsourced to China/India will ever again trust the experts, politicians and economists, that were pro-free trade China entry to the WTO? It cost 2.8 million manufacturing jobs, plus the related businesses/jobs for those serving the manufacturing workers...

Economist were partially right, yes overall the US is richer/benefits with free trade, but what the experts didn't consider was the wealth/benefits are distributed unequally...and the ones that lost out are the Trump voters...perfectly understandable to me why those folks are pissed and will try something different

so rather than dismissing those folk, take your knowledge and education back to the laboratory and figure out a way to get their votes back...do that rather that clogging streets with protests...if you come up anything better there will be an election in 4 years time and you might get your way again...and that is how democracy works to change things for its people
