If Trump did not commit any crime of import, he will not fire Mueller. What would be the point other than arrogance? The blow back would not be worth the pleasure and he would know that.

I understand looking at Russian collusion, but if all they find is that Trump's lawyer illegally paid off a prostitute during his campaign I just don't think this whole special prosecution fiasco is worth it. Like I said previously, if the FBI dug deep enough you could probably find something similar in 95% of politicians, so now we are setting a precedent where this is going to be expected. The day the next Democratic President goes into office (possibly in 2+ years) Republican lawmakers and 50 million Americans (or whatever the exact number is) are going to be demanding FBI investigations into that person, and unless that person is in the 5% of squeaky clean people there will probably be something there. Engaging in political theater is Trump’s greatest strength, and his showmanship is incredibly savvy. It’s the only thing he’s good at, but it plays incredibly well for all involved. Him and China have pulled off this move twice in the past two months with North Korea and this trade situation. He appears to rattle a sabre, China plays along because their power is entrenched, and their people will never even see the appearance of capitulation, and they reshuffle the deck with nothing getting accomplished beyond a big bump for Trump in key demographics. His unbalanced reputation actually works for him because the market recoils in horror because they’re thinking he might legit be thinking of starting a trade war, and a simple return to status quo makes it look like he swung a big stick and got results as opposed to the reality of them simply taking a dollar from here and shifting it there. China is thrilled with a return to status quo, so it works out for all involved. It’s this kind of an ingenious shell game that gives me a slight hope he won’t tank everything during his tenure.
I recall a time like 7-10 years ago making a post on the previous site when both the US and Russia were dealing with Muslim extremist issues that nuclear weapons were the only true currency and the US, Russia, and China might eventually realize that they’re too economically intertwined to continue to fight proxy battles all over and simply carve up the world. At times, it seems they’ve gotten there, just not announced it.
I’ve always thought Trump’s better argument regarding Russia wasn’t that he had no involvement with them, because he obviously does, but rather that he does have involvement because their interests aligned at this point in history with us in regards to extremism being the biggest threat. You could make that argument somewhat persuasively. Essentially team white people with China along for the ride wouldn’t go over poorly to a large percentage of the population.
The Tarrifs he put on China are real. The tarrifs that china countered with are real. The tarrifs Trump doubled down with are real. China looking in the mirror and saying we won't "win" this trade war and saying let's sit down is an enormous potential accomplishment.
Proof will be in the pudding. If nothing happens thenn you got a point. If the trade flow between the two countries continue with an adjustment to the RNB/USD rate and more favorable terms for the USA then it's a God move.

I forgot the details, but the podcast I listened to with the British historian emphasized how we fall into these traps because we don't think about the bigger picture.
We all assume that because Trump is such a bad president him winning the election is the worst thing that could have happened. This isn't necessarily true. And we all assume because he is such a bad president, and probably dirty, the FBI going after him is the best thing that could happen. This is equally not necessarily true. This could potentially add energy to a dangerous populist movement that might have otherwise been diffused if Trump just did his 4 years and moved on without all the attacks on him (justified or no).
I hope you realize who has most of the guns in the US, and who is the majority of people in our military. If you really think those people are going to let you move on into the future and leave them behind, then you are a fool. Didn’t stop roughly 70% of registered Republicans supporting his impeachment in his second term. Tens of millions of people always want the President removed and investigated regardless of who is in office. It’s been a very divided country for a long time. The FBI doesn’t, and shouldn’t, give a single fuck about what a bunch of malcontents are up in arms about during any presidents tenure. If they have a case, they should make it. Lets keep something in perspective here. The majority of the people in this country, and the world in large, base some significant percentage of their belief structure on a bunch of bullshit that was written thousands of years ago, and actually believe it is divine. Things like right, wrong and truth matter a lot less than we would like.
I think if Trump and his friends/family are removed in the next 6 months it could be the best case scenario for republicans.
Sure there will be several months after impeachment of craziness, but, Pence would have enough time to remind everyone what it's like to not have scandal after scandal and give the party a chance to regroup and nominate a very capable candidate by 2022.
Trump still having any hope during the 2022 primaries would divide the republicans and give dems a ton of ammo.
