I wish MLB had jackie robinson day shoved up it's f#cking ass.
We just fired off a little in Texas +103 ML. Going to bottom of 2nd, so one less at bat reason for better price. Gray looked dominating in first. Striking out side on 16 pitches. I can’t resist the day game sweats.
Should have wanted a minute. Lead off triple took it up to +124. Gray worked out of it with 2 more k’s.
I cannot comprehend Braves -120 vs Hunter Brown Astros. Should be -150. F5 is actually the correct pick imo.
Today is Sizzler Day (every day is actually). KC exposure in whatever way you can find peace with those odds and your god. WEATHER
Dodgers vs a lefty again. Fascinating. Corbin Burnes no no? Ploppies piling into Dodgers -290 blind while they wait for the bus from Oklahoma to arrive
I heard but haven’t looked yet. Apparently someone took a fangraphs top pitchers 1-15 and only 2 pitchers who throw over 96mph are still active this year
I’m part of a MLB chat group headed by a Boston guy. Everyone is younger than me. Clearly a lotta of kids.
We were joking about Corbin Burnes pitching a no no and I said the Dodgers lineup against lefties was “Special Olympics”. The woke hate rained down on me.
I have occasionally lapsed into the use of old school Boston “retahd” and have been similarly crucified by the young tots. Kids never seen Good Will Hunting or Ted. Prolly never even heard of those movies actually.
Showing my age. I am a flawed human.
Well that went to shit. On your Braves first 5 San -117
No i plan too like 99% of everyone else with a cardboard addiction. Jenkins is the conheadline in 2024 bowman that is coming out on May 8th. Him and Dylan Crews first bowman autographs will be out. I know people who have 3-6K set aside to get some of Jenkins autographed rookies.
I wont fag up the thread with it but i have spent the last 18 months getting back into “the hobby”.
You guys think I am crazy for the amount of knowledge i have on college football players Ive gone over the top on Minor League Baseball…. And unapologetically so. Could care less about MLB box scores but every morning I read minor leagues.
Sending these out for sale. Pulled that Wyatt Langford on Christmas. Got offered $500 that day and $700 that week. Got it graded in stead and got the Dime. Got offered $1600. Sold it last week for $2200.
Crazy hobby
After a nice start, the Dodgers are in the toilet and have fallen to 11-8. They lost to the Nationals last night, with Glasnow pitching, as a -375 favorite.
Even worse, their years-long pattern of being unstoppable at home (at least during the regular season) seems to be broken. They're just 7-5 there so far, and not against great teams.
Among other things, the middle relief is terrible, and the back of the lineup isn't producing.
They're bringing up rookie Andy Pages. I've had him stashed in my fantasy reserve for years. He's 23, and has a high ceiling. Off to a great start in AAA this year. They've decided that they're done waiting for Jason Heyward's back to heal. There's also the other issue that Heyward might return to pre-2023 form. Also, given that Heyward is 6'5" and 34 years old, the back problems might be persistent.
Anyway, the Dodgers could really use a back of the lineup spark right now. Not sure if Pages will be it, and he doesn't hit righties nearly as well as he does lefties, so I guess we will see.
You're missing the point I'm making.
This will be a microcosm of the postseason.
Yes, they will probably go like 39-11 sometime in the middle of the season and run away with the division.
But the issues we see today will rear their ugly heads in the playoffs, just like they did last year.
So I guess we agree.
Can’t pull the trigger on my tribe today. Shocked they aren’t bigger dogs. Cookie has flirted with disaster this season kept together with duct tape. I’ll just have to pull for an unexpected win, but can’t bet on it.
I’m worried for your boy Beede. Struggling.
As if more couldn't go wrong for the Rockies...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJP_hk-DfLU
That's the Rockies hitting coach.
Now the FAA is investigating: https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/...ting-faa-probe
This isn't really a big deal, though. The plane was one autopilot, the whole thing was clearly a photo/video gag, and the real pilot was sitting in the co-pilot's seat. It's not like they gave this guy the controls, or let him actually help fly the plane.
I understand that, especially since 9/11, they shouldn't allow non-crew into the cockpit during flight, and especially not in the pilot's chair. But was there any actual danger? Short of this dude going suicidal, knowing how to take over, and being able to overpower the 3 people in there who would try to stop him, not really. And I don't see the Rockies hitting coach being a murder-suicidal maniac.
Pretty dumb of the pilot to allow this though.
When I was a young, it was common practice to allow kids in the cockpit. All you had to do was ask. They’d give you plastic wings to pin on your shirt. It was cool. I wanted to be a pilot as I kid. Good thing I didn’t. I’m absent minded as fuck. I would have ended up killing myself.
Which team has the most strikeouts in the MLB? Too easy. Billion dollar Dodgers
Which team has a 3 outcome approach at the plate with multiple men on base. Yup. Swing for the fences. Friedman analytics.
Which team has the best record in baseball? BCR knows.
Cleveland Bibee to record a win vs Oakland +140 is a good bet. Even on a squirrelly MLB Sunday
We doing up 2 early plus money dog vs Dodgers again? Gotta look. Funny it’s Glasnow. Weird.
Mets over 3.5 +105
The Cubs have Seiya Suzuki out, but honestly their lineup isn't that good, even with Suzuki around. They can really use some offensive help, especially with Cody Bellinger looking less like 2023 and more like the prior few years.
Instead of giving AB to low-ceiling guys like Mike Tauchmann, why don't they just bite the bullet and promote big prospect Matt Shaw? Shaw is killing AA, whereas the one more heralded offensive prospect in their system -- Pete Crow-Armstrong -- isn't looking very good at the moment.
The Cubs have done decently offensively so far -- 5.4 runs per game. However, the underlying lineup just isn't very powerful, and I don't see this holding up. The NL Central is wide open, even with the Brewers' hot start.
For whatever reason, they seem to mishandle a lot of players recently. Christopher Morel seems to be on the bench often when he's blistering the ball, and is in the lineup every day when he's awful (like right now).
I wish I knew a White Sox fan just so I could make fun of them. Buried 14.5 back after 25 games is hard to do. Absolutely stone cold dead before April is over. Talk about a lost season.
I think 22 losses in April might be among the worst ever starts, and they still have probably 3 more games.
Somehow relative parity right now.
15 of 30 teams are within 4 games of .500 right now, either way.
26 of 30 teams have won at least 10 games.
The A's are 10-16, the Nationals are 10-14.
So far there have been only 4 teams with horrendous starts:
The Marlins, originally expected to win something like 75 games this year, is dreadful, and is 6-20.
The Rockies are expectedly bad at 7-19.
The White Sox were expected to be bad, but not THIS bad, sitting at 3-22.
The Astros, projected by The Athletic to win the division with 93 victories, are somehow off to a 7-19 start.
Aside from the better-than-expected Nationals and A's thus far, we are also seeing surprisingly good things out of the Indians (18-7), Yankees (17-9, despite Judge struggling), Royals (16-10), Brewers (16-8), and Cubs (16-9).
Dodgers are somehow only 9-8 at home. They will still win the division.
I think Druff knows this year. He’s like a Leafs fan now.
Gonna be fun in Toronto. Dodgers would be a bottom of AL East team. How many times can they play Nationals and Mets anyway?
Dodgers vs a righty and disciplined Toronto bats vs bum Stone. Don’t fold like Leafs
My osession the past two weeks is playing the DK “Up 2 Early” promo. Fun as hell. Cheering on the A’s lulz.
It’s an Away Dog promo. At least that’s how people approach it
Some maths being shared by twitter types fwiw.
I ultimately took Guardians @ +180. Sale is pitch to contact and Guards are disciplined at plate.
I shoulda taken Dodgers but long shots are a rare treat for me
My Braves with a big series (at least for April anyways) against BCRs Guardians this weekend.
Two best records in baseball thus far; should be a fun one.
Somehow the Braves are 17-6 despite the following:
-Lost the preseason NL CY favorite for the year in Strider (killed some futures bets of mine too)
-Lost their All-Star C Sean Murphy on opening day
-Lost all-star 2B Ozzie Albies for 10 days with a broken toe (he’s back tonight)
-Reigning NL MVP Acuña has a sub .780 OPS w/ only 1HR
-Matt Olson is hitting .216 and has an OPS of .759
-Austin Riley OPS of .725
-Max Fried has an ERA of 4.97
-Charlie Morton has an ERA of 4.70
It’s kind of amazing they have the best record in baseball given all that, but their 5th starter Reynaldo Lopez has a 0.72 ERA, the bullpen has been mostly great, Marcell Ozuna has been on fire, as has Travis d’Arnaud.
The latter guys are all going to regress heavily but the former ones should regress to the mean in a positive direction. I’m ready to be hurt again in October.
Yeah its been fun to walk around with my chest puffed out at our quick start, but I would gladly take 1/3 in Atl. We have faced A's, Red Sox, and White Sox for over half of our schedule. Our bullpen is legit. The starters have been dancing between raindrops, which you can do against those offenses, but I am not delusional about this team. I expected 75 wins before Bieber went out. I'd be thrilled at 3/3 over next 6 as the Astros kill us also and are off to bad start. Two out of six isn't a killer even, just don't want to get blanked.
I am looking forward to the series and seeing them against quality even if it goes poorly. The Tribe fights, which I love even on bad days. Hopefully it's a competitive series.
Yep the Braves have played 6 already against the Marlins, and had a series with the White Sox and Astros so they’ve benefited from a soft schedule as well. One of the White Sox 3 wins is against the Braves.
Some reporter asked Dave Roberts about Bo Bichette for shortstop
Kid has the LA hair. Dodgers have no shortstop options or prospects. Toronto is going nowhere with current crew which is so damn sad. They were exciting when that young crew came up. I fell in love
Mookie won’t make it til October at SS. He will get hurt.
Ohtani isn’t an option at short yet but we can talk about it.
Bo in LA. Cost a truckload of prospects but that’s what they are for. The window closing fast on this current crew. Win now is obv the mantra
It’s a hell of a trade idea.
The problem is the window might have already closed on Bo himself. He's hitting .214 with 1 HR, and a .597 OPS through over 100 plate appearances. Ouch!
Last year he hit .306/20, and his OPS was over .800 -- which is around his career mark.
Maybe he'd come back alive in LA. I know he had some neck issues just before the season started, so maybe he's had some lingering pain.
Still, I'd hate to give up useful prospects (even if just useful for trading) just to get a guy who is inexplicably bad this year.
I agree that the Mookie SS experiment is weird. He's so good defensively in the outfield, and it's not even like the Dodgers have three top outfielders. At the moment, James Outman and Andy Pages make up 2/3 of their outfield.
I never understood the excitement for Lux. He still hasn't demonstrated he can hit well, and his defense is dreadful. So.... what exactly are they hoping for?
Rather than literally give away Mike Busch, they should have packaged him with a few other guys and acquired a high quality SS. Instead we have Miguel Rojas and Mookie playing out of position.
I sense a little apathy on the Jays but I might be projecting. The fire that the crop of 4 felt coming up obv has to have waned. I kinda dialed out myself.
I didn’t not know about his neck. Very knowledgeable on your part. Tip cap.
Bichette has genuine athletic chops. Obv genetics but the tennis success informs me too.
Dodgers now 3.5 up in their sucky division. They got 3 guys hitting .350 and Freddie Freeman “underperforming” at .300, so they can cover up their poor infield defense for the moment. But that shit (and poor middle relievers) come back to haunt you in the playoffs.
Oakland 3 - 0 in rubber games this season.
Was a good series BCR. Definitely doesn’t feel like we won the series 2-1 but I’ll take it. Your pitching was scary. Mostly shut down the best offense in baseball. Top of our order save for Alibies is slumping badly right now.
