Good run Druff.
You took somewhat safer lines in those hands just you couldn't win one of them to catch a break so I wouldn't beat yourself up it just sucks the structure don't allow you to really lose many hands at that point.

During the final break I had to decide whether I was going to play for the bubble (since it was 11k and a flat pay structure, plus for the psychological benefit of NOT bubbling my 1st event), or if I was going to play to chip up and compete for the bracelet.
I decided to do the latter, which is why I raised that T9hh preflop and opened with the ATdd when I was down to 51k. The other two hands (the QTo and the AK) were super standard and I couldn't help their outcome. As I pointed out, I lost the minimum with the QT, checking behind when I made my pair of Qs (sensing a trap) and checking again when the ace hit (again sensing a trap). The AK was just a cooler, though I can't blame Derke as he was obviously not folding a gutshot for 9k postflop. Perhaps he could have let the 94hh go preflop (I would have, actually), but he was probably counting on me being tighter with defending on the bubble.

GG Druff top 20 Limit Holdem player in the world in an extremely tough field
GG Todd. Shake it off and get ready to crush em in the next one.
Yikes. I had to go to sleep, but I turned on notifications on my phone so it would send me a text any time you tweeted. I was mostly asleep when I was getting your tweets and when I woke up I was hoping I had dreamed the whole thing. What a way to start, lol. Thanks for providing a fun sweat for all of us though.
Even if you played for the bubble their is never the guarantee you still cash but regardless if you do you will need to get extremely lucky to go deep if you just let your stack dwindle away. I would of put myself in the best position possible at a deep run because it's way more money.
The main event might be the only exception imo to assure a cash if riding a short stack especially when you have hundreds of places that get paid allowing several others to take the bigger risk and the time you put in to cash is longer. It's much harder to assure you cash in a tournament field of the one you just played and because only 18 are cashing if you do imo the equity of having a workable stack in a small field after the bubble is huge compared to a bigger tourney with several flat pay jumps ahead before real money.
gj druff i know you didnt cash, but you gave it a good run. dont worry you will get that next bracelet.
Druff, will you be around the Rio today at all? If so I would love for you to stop into the booth and do a bit of analysis with Tuck or whojedi when they start the final table streaming for event 20.
Would they be open to having you on or is there a bit of friction between you and pokernews producers?
He's playing 94h and makes a one card straight...Then to add misery an Ace hits the river...So many times have I also had that sick feeling when way ahead I knew I would lose...

If only I had kept posting ponies instead of relenting to peer pressure...
Hope you guys are proud of yourselves.
there are times that I really hate poker and today is one of those times. I don't know which is the worst feeling psychologically, bubbling or coming in 2nd. Best thing to do is take a day off and do something with the family. Anyway, thanks for the entertaining sweat, it was worth staying up (much too) late last night.
gg druff
don't worry, yebsite will avenge you
terrance chan can expect a few of these coming his way soon

Congrats on a great run and it was fun to railbird while it lasted!
So depressing. Hands like these are why I lost passion for poker a few years ago. I still love the game, but my motivation to play is pretty low. I just got tired af getting screwed-no-lube by the cards.
It was a great run Druff and you didn't deserve this fate. I know you're not a drinking man, but a cocktail or two might be in order tonight.
Serious question for Druff, maybe address on radio tonight. The structure of this tournament seems so very shallow for the prestige of it all. They are starting today, right after the money bubble, with 17 people with only an average of 12BB. 12BB in a limit tournament? What a crapshoot. They should at least plan to have 20 minimum.
I like how they removed the first few levels and made a longer first level at a higher blind level. This allowed for meaningful play for a long period of time. They should really do the same around the bubble. Just keep the blinds around 2000/4000 for another 4 hours and people can play poker while grinding down to the Final Table.
Maybe put a check into the blind level increase to cancel the increase if the average chipstack is less than 20BB.
I go to sleep and everything goes to shit...WTF.
Good run Druff I was pulling for you. You hung in there for a while, most players (**cough Mycon cough**) would have ran good early and let it slip away fast.
GL next time around. Fucking 9-4...but it was sooted! Fucking douchebag.
THIS IS LIMIT HOLDEM PEOPLE WHO FUCKIN CARES?!?!?
All of these are shallow, but this is especially evident in smaller field tournaments. While the average stack is the same, bigger field tournaments yield higher chip leaders, making it appear they are deeper. Also there are more overall chips in the event, which takes longer to win them, again meaning it's deeper.
I never had much respect for limit holdem until I started playing HORSE everyday. It's has an entirely different game strategy than no limit--much to my surprise and ignorance. Hats off to Druff who can play with the best and hold his own. I hope he plays more of them and pieces will be available...
