Senate intelligence committee just voted unanimously to release the democrats (Schiff) memo.
Either Nunes or Schiff will go down in history as a hero.
im actually starting to feel bad for trump.
he never knew the rules.
This is kind of where I am at, except I feel bad for the US, not Trump. I feel we (mainly the MSM and the Democratic Party and liberals in general) decided a Trump presidency was going to be so horrible we would exhaust every resource to submarine it. And predictably he is going to reply by going after them in return in probably illegal ways, as he doesn't actually know laws and is a petty bully at heart. And I think we are all going to be worse off for it.
I kinda think the leaders of all the Asian countries when he went on tour there did it right. Be nice to him, blow up his ego, get favorable policies by blowing up his ego, and move on. Knowing he was a thoroughly unqualified president with a psychiatric disorder, I think we could have approached things differently and we all would have been better of when the smoke clears. Just my opinion.
Would we really be any worse off it the media just acted impartially and didn't actively go after him all the time? Has anything positive come about from all this aggressive antagonism against him? I know you can make the argument everything the media said about him is true so they are justified in going after him. But I think the attitude has been a little too much of, "lets make things as bad as we can to show everyone what a big fuckup he is," and I think this has seriously damaged us.
I guess I don't hold him as accountable because I think he has a mental disorder and can't help himself. Maybe I am giving the average liberal too much credit too, and they suffer from Trump Derangement Sydrome so bad they can't control themselves any more than he can.
Max Power has been of the opinion that the far right faction of our beloved Republican party was taken advantage of by law makers much more experienced than themselves. All the memo did was back them into a corner. A bipartisan unanimous decision today shows that a lot of people, including Democrats, wanted the Nunes memo out. Unfortunately President Trump was too eager to shut down the Mueller investigation, and is now in a no win situation. Max Power is embarrassed for the White House right now.
no matter what happens, Trump will go down as a folk hero. I really believe history will smile on his administration.
To use a trope, they are still dangerous animals, and when you back a dangerous animal into a corner things often don't end well. I think when the smoke clears, liberals in general are going to be looking back at things and realizing how pyrrhic their victory really was, because the cost was too high.
"60% of the country that is actively antagonistic toward him"
I think the 24/7 media blitz telling TV watching football retards that Trump is the bad guy has something to do with that
Yes, we’d be worse off. How many times has Trump said he doesn’t watch an MSNBC or CNN only to respond to them a week later? The reality is it drives him crazy that his bedrocks of support are the shitholes of the country.
Once elected, the best case scenario was for him to be mired in bullshit infighting and petty arguments which distract him from getting anything done. A year plus in, it’s been moderately successful. He got through a generic GOP tax plan and pretty much nothing else. Keeping him distracted fighting nonsensical battles is optimal for the country. He was going to be a massive embarrassment globally on a personal level regardless. Mocking him doesn’t change that, it simply keeps him chasing his tail seeking approval. Better that than getting involved in serious matters that are above his understanding.
The media figures aren’t practicing altruism for the betterment of the republic. They’re killing him for their own advancement and enrichment. He’s a once in a lifetime idiot that you can make your bones off of in an environment where news was dying. Kind of like the Nancy Graces and Greta Van Susterens of the world making careers off the OJ trial. That the media bashing him constantly helps is simply a fortunate break in that it keeps his anger and ire focused domestically rather than him exerting his insanity on a bigger stage.
i don't think think the media's "balanced" in their coverage of him or republicans generally, but that's always been the case. for sure, they won't give him any credit for the economy. the reality is that most people that get into journalism probably lean liberal.
for the most part though, i think the media's criticisms of him are legitimate. i mean, assuming you're right in your assessment of trump's mental state, it's hard to sugarcoat the fact that we have a person with a mental disorder running the country. for example, should they have made his full-on retard statement that "there were lots of good people marching [with the KKK] in charlottesville" seem less full-on retard? should they have not covered or condemned it? i'm sure you see what i'm saying.
i think we're in a post-bipartisanship era anyway. the far left and far right will primary out politicians that even remotely act like they're willing to work with the other side.
BCR, thank you for being you.
can someone find me a republican complaining about media bias who even questioned for a microsecond the validity of fox news' reporting about how obama is a kenyan muslim?
I have and will concede again that Fox News is biased towards the GOP. This is plainly obvious and literally no thinking person has ever disputed it. Every other cable 'news' network is biased toward the DNC. We have had this exchange of thoughts in the past and I was disappointed to find out that you actually think CNN and MSNBC are non-biased sources without political agendas
do you believe that Russia has a video tape of Trump getting pissed on by hookers, and that Trump has ceded control of our country to Russia because he doesn't want to get embarrassed by this tape coming out? That's what a lot of people seem to believe, I think it's retarded
i think that a) you grossly overestimate how much time i spend watching cable news and b) you may be overstating my position, but given that the current political climate is "batshit insanity" vs "everything else literally", can you really hold me accountable for toeing a fairly polarizing line?
