So if you're in a state where the government is how you like, you shouldn't have to worry about who wins county/local elections regarding major laws and regulations. For the most part, the state government should dictate major law, and local government should dictate local matters.
I can’t disagree more. In fact this deserves a rare for me

There is a massive correlation between home values and schools. The local school system is a major component in a family’s decision on where to live for those who choose public education. The highest performing schools exist in towns with larger and more expensive homes.
My property tax pays for school construction and operation. Not the school in the neighboring town.
It’s my kid and I paid for that school. That’s as local as it fucking gets. Who wins the local election is pretty much up to me and my neighbors. Get involved in local politics in some fashion to protect your way of life.
If I don’t like the local school system I can spend the $25k/yr or move to a town with a better school system. It might be 20 miles away. There are large differences in very small geographic areas. You know this to be true. No divorce agreement is going to prohibit giving a shit about my kids education. Custody is nonsense.
I don’t know how it is in retardia but in New England we still have town meetings like the damn pilgrims fresh off the Mayflower. I have gone to town meeting where the decision to build a new school was debated. It is an important decision because your property tax will be increased but your town image improves and kids benefit. It was so interesting to witness first hand these very personal issues being argued by my neighbors. This is democracy at its absolute best. I encourage that. Anything less deserves a tomato and I’m throwing one at your boy.
I don’t need big daddy to help me with democracy. DeSantis is being a thundering blow hard. I cheered him on this issue along with the clown in Texas until I learned they were not allowing counties and towns to choose. Fuck off with that.
I can’t believe you don’t support local politics except that you are likely just doubling down on your previous DeSantis support.
