It’s not a complete answer but they aren’t going to get into the technical explanations in a 30 second commercial. If the officials feel the momentum of the player fielding the ball takes him into the end zone it’s where he caught it. Same for the impetus of a free ball on a muffed punt. Now if the player stopped short of the end zone and then made a football move which brought him into the end zone it would be a safety.
My favorite officials question.
How many points are awarded for a Successful Touchdown, a FG, a Safety, a PAT Kick and a PAT Rush/reception.
I’ve never had anyone answer it right but I suspect someone will look it up.

I was a D3 college ref for a short period of time and did high school for many years. I was an odd duck that wanted to Ref a Super Bowl more than play on one.
