on the one hand, its basically negotiating with terrorists to make these sorts of concessions to induce corporations to keep jobs in the US. on the other hand, i bet a lot of people are happy to basically work full time at minimum wage, given that their alternatives are homelessness or jail.
my concern with that vision is that if an entire family needs to work full time to afford rent/car/gas/food, what impact is that going to have on the 'pillar markets' like housing? can a return to a factory-employed middle class succeed if we are competing on the open market with chinese goods?
its like that classic analogy of the blanket thats just not quite big enough to keep one warm at night, except in this case it gets gradually smaller every time anyone anywhere on the planet doesnt buy american.
with the end game being devaluation of the dollar/market implosion.
