Guy worked at firaxis games and has quite the online presence.
Twitter just suspended his twitter account which had a huge history to it
I guess he thought the McDonald's employee wouldn't notice or give a shit. Just like they don't give a shit about the food.

Let me get this straight:
Killer is Luigi Mangione, Ivy League grad with degrees in comp sci, avid reader and active contributor on GitHub.
He has a 130+ IQ but he takes off his mask at a Starbucks to flirt with an employee, then an hour later goes and calmly kills the CEO of a major healthcare company, rides away on a bike.
A week later goes to a local McDonalds where he brings the murder weapon, the fake ID he used to check into a hotel, and a written manifesto on how horrible the American healthcare system is. He somehow gets identified by the cashier after he sits down.
He works on his laptop until police come inside the McDonalds, sitting there with a ghost gun and suppressor he made himself.
Gotcha.
The Rybrows were a big giveaway.
He should have thought about this and trimmed them down to look more typical.
The taking off of the mask might have been a split second decision where he was afraid he would be reported to police if he didn't. But of course, that was stupid because he hadn't committed any crime yet, and his ID was fake, so even if that chick remembered him, it would be took late, provided he left no prints behind. But perhaps he thought nobody would connect him to the shooting if he just pulled down the mask and otherwise acted normally.
But yeah, carrying around all this stuff was retarded.
High chance this was about his back. From the abs pic, obviously the guy liked to work out and be active. When your back hurts badly, you feel 90 years old. Pretty much shuts down everything active. I don't usually have back issues, but in mid-June I started abruptly having back problems while in Vegas, and it lasted 2 months, and didn't improve one bit. Then one day I woke up with it significantly better, and within a week, it was all better. HUGE difference regarding my ability to be active. I'm guessing United denied him some kind of procedure to correct it that he thought was needed, and he sat there at home every day stewing about it, and then just completely snapped.
His Twitter showed a friend being concerned in July that he disappeared and wasn't talking to anyone, and in November that friend echoed the concern again.
I don't think it was about the grandparents. Usually people rage about the healthare system when it involves themselves, their kids, their parents, or their spouse. Grandparents are a little too far removed, even for those who are very close to them.
Given that it was clear from the pics that the guy was young, I figured maybe he had a middle-aged parent die from United refusing to cover something. But no... I'd say it's highly likely his own back.
I think he was having fun with the chase and mocking authorities, but when you’re carrying the gun and a manifesto, on some level you want caught. He could have made it a lot further than Altoona.
What an interesting follow list. I almost commented earlier he struck me as a Brett Weinstein Sam Harris type kid when I read his Twitter. Reminder not everyone is as linear as it’s a lib/MAGA shooter.
Edward Snowden
AOC
Trevor Noah
Ezra Klein
Sam Altman
John Spencer
Patrick Bet-David
Joe Rogan
RFK Jr
Brett Weinstein
John McAfee
Bret Weinstein / Sam Harris type is a good guess.
That follow list does come off like someone who is an anti-establishment populist type. Some of his social media posts seem to indicate that, as well.
This makes it even more likely that it's about his own back injury. Probably already hated the "system" in general, and then when he couldn't get approvals from United Healthcare to fix his back, and his active life abruptly ground to a halt, he completely snapped and wanted revenge.
He also reminds me somewhat of Ted Kaczynski.
Intelligent, educated guy who hates the establishment to the point where it drives him insane, and he then seeks to kill those who are symbols of it. Except in this case, it was more likely personal than just ideological.
Kaczynski's murders, by the way, were set into motion by a new road built in Montana. He had a particular hike that he had remembered as peaceful, isolated, and beautiful, which he took every so often. After not taking it for a few years, he felt he really needed it, and did it again. He was shocked to see they had built a road through a hill which was part of the hike's scenery, and felt this road had completely ruined the hike. This made him believe that modern society ruins everything nice, and he started his bombings as a protest.
The Grandparent angle is not plausible. They were loaded, and Grandpa owned a country club, a radio station and a $2M home when he died. Whatever healthcare he needed he was getting. Still not ruling out the homosexual angle.
Seeing this is the 2nd apprehension because of a McDonald’s employee, the next shooter needs to go strictly to Popeyes.
Regardless, this wasn't some super assassin, hired ex-Mossad hitman, corporate hit, jilted gay lover etc. - this is a guy who likely has a combination of motives from being fucked over personally and seeing those around him experience the same. It looks like he for sure volunteered at an assisted living facility that the wealthy side owns once for a few months as a teenager and might have again at some other point. (One side of his family is at least somewhat wealthy, but this obviously doesn't mean the other side is.) If the guy had a soft spot for the elderly, seeing how they get fucked around by the healthcare system probably drastically changed his worldview. The media is trying to create a narrative.
What a bag fumble, could have lammed it a bit longer and skirted justice.
LOL at all the poors who can't afford healthcare cheering for murder.
Our system only benefits the wealthy and unhealthy who need pills to walk.
He was wearing a medical mask and beanie when he was arrested which that employee at McDonald's was able to identify him with.
The only thing he contested was the amount of cash ($8,000) and ($2,000) foreign currency on him. He claims it wasn't his. He didn't have that much money.

this is the absolute perfect conservative conversation.
it starts with an assertion thats fundamentally invented but paints the right as oppressed by invisible powers and the response simply accepts and amplifies the assertion while inviting people to fill in the blanks because wink wink we all know why; its because the right is oppressed by invisible powers.
and straight to PFA it goes.
Yet you forget the perfect liberal conversation that starts with how the murder of the CEO of United Healthcare was somehow justified by (fill in the blank bullshit liberal group think assertion based upon a false premise). It is then followed by some stupid Gringo argument about how we should have a single payer health system.
and straight to PFA it goes.

Luigi Mangione has been charged with one count of murder, two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, one count of second-degree possession of a forged document, and one count of third-degree criminal possession of a firearm
BCR put me on a payment plan.
McDonald’s WiFi. Oof.
Isn’t Ackman one of Druff’s “flip flop” guys? I jest. Another billionaire tech elite democrat joining the Trump team (or desperately wants in on the fun in DC).
That con artist is a master at playing public sentiment. His pandemic performance will be taught in high schools for generations to come.
I mean everywhere but Florida
Motherfucker should have had those eyebrows waxed at one of those Korean nail places. True coward this gindaloon…afraid of the pain from waxing. At least shave the fucking brows with a razor FFS.
We don’t know exactly who called in tips or not. But not only did he have very distinctive features but his name was also fucking Luigi. People will remember a guy named Luigi. Plus all the other stuff about being valedictorian and what not. I will say back pain can make you a miserable fucking bastard. But this is the first I’ve heard of a bad back radicalizing someone who already had contempt for corporate America into an Assassin.
This has to start somewhere kind of major dialogue on these masks. We always knew that it can be abused in many ways. Now, if Ike Haxton wants to mask up to troll people & cover tells….whatever. But here we have the first really high profile use of the normalization of masks being used in a high profile crime.
I’m diabetic. I wore the fucking masks. I took 3 clot shots. I didn’t want to die. But I haven’t wore a mask in over 2 years and after the first booster I stopped with the fucking shots. People who want or need to wear a mask should get some kind of certification from the DR and be forced to at least show it when asked by authority figures. I don’t imagine it would be a big deal to get it. But we can’t have lunatics taking advantage of the normalization of masking.
Even if you’re healthy and want to mask…let’s get a Dr. to sign off you’re not a fucking lunatic. I am all for personal freedom. But this has just gone too far and it’s putting others in danger. You want to mask all the time….Ask your Dr to print out a card for you and you can cover your face until the cows come home.
As for cold weather…yes it’s fine to wear a fast covering for the cold. It is what it is. And I guess if you are Asian you can wear a mask because that’s sort of a cultural thing….sort of like a burka in the Muslim world.
at some point it would behoove you to realize that VC bros arent dem, they are just performatively anti-sheep. they embrace the creativity and adventurism of the left because they understand the power of 'outside the box' solutions, but they have no moral or emotional allegiance to civil rights or social equality or human dignity.
they are basically cryptolibertarian hypercapitalists and they view everyone around them in terms of what they can contribute to the building of their pyramids.
the fact that the left does embrace creativity and adventurism and intellectualism for its own implicit value just makes them the more obvious choice for cultural integration/exploitation.
plus we write all the good code.
You should be free to wear whatever you choose.
Japan has always done the mask thing. Japan is not a violent society and we are but we have many other advantages. Cost of living here.
My wife reads lips. The mask has been a challenge for her yet she and I would never require a government card to wear one.
As Druff’s surveillance society (5G dependent) rolls forward the gubmint will obv make a ruling and it will be interesting to see
Mask or no mask, he was going to kill the guy. People put on a mask when robbing a liquor store or bank for a hundred years when it wasn't normalized or common. It's not like he went on a killing spree with the mask on after. He killed the guy he wanted to kill and no one else. You think there wasn't criminals committing crimes with masks on in NY before Covid? About the only difference is he may have taken a few more days to get caught. Or maybe it gave him false sense of comfort and he would have been in someone's basement for a month is previous years?
Honestly the net benefit of everyone wearing a mask all the time would probably save like 50k lives and several billion dollars a year conservatively and you'd get a few of these, but these would happen anyway. My doctor is a serious conservative. He kept the mask thing for a year past when it was mandatory because he said he didn't have to scramble every day with his staff sick and patients getting other patients sick. He eventually dropped it when he said he got sick of arguing with no nothings every day telling him nonsense they read on the internet about breathing or whatever. He said he had to wear one for 16 hours a day for years during residency and so did all his peers with zero residual effects. He just got sick of arguing and scrapped it.
I didn't wear a mask during covid except when I walked into a store or office that required it. I wouldn't now unless I had to. I also expected a super rise in crime with all the masks. I remember making a post about it. It never happened.
Taking this position though is about the most pro-surveillance argument one could make. You are literally advocating assisting big brother. What happens when these little Gen Z people run the world and want people jailed for saying there isn't 200 genders?
McDonald hash browns suck.
If he ate at Burger King, he could have had it his way.

Luigi Mangione at Altoona, PA McDonald's before arrest.
Bail...DENIED!!! He's pissed!!!

The adoration of this guy is insane, sick of seeing his face.
The fact he was caught on the same day Daniel Penny was found not guilty is rather poetic.
Leftists cheering for the vigilantly execution of a CEO in NYC out of one side of their mouth and at the same time screaming about the "racist execution" of Jordan Neely by a vigilantly in NYC out of the other.
I was happy to see Penny found not guilty. The crazy guy had a long history of violence. He had refused help offered. I am sure he was mentally ill, but you can't just assault people regularly and not expect to run into someone capable of ending that shit.
Go under a Shapiro or any right wing person bitching about the left in their videos regarding this shooter and read the comments from conservatives. This isn't just some left wing thing. You have splithis in this thread saying all health care should be non-profit.
The right likes to talk about second amendment remedies all the time. They make up fake stories, get in front of a judge and lose, and then still talk about second amendment remedies.
These companies write AI programs designed to immediately deny coverage to people who have paid for it for years. This isn't auto insurance. Their choices sometimes kill people who had justifiable claims. That is before you get into the fact, he seems to be a scumbag in many other ways. I bet the other CEOs have thought more about how callously they deny people at the worst times of their lives more this week than they have before.
In both cases, whether it's the homeless violent guy put down by Penny or the CEO, do you think someone isn't going to call you on your behavior eventually? If I was a CEO of a sometimes-ruthless company, I would be watching my back. Everything that's happened of late on both sides of the political spectrum is a populist uprising.
I know little about the health care industry. I only have so much bandwith.
This entire story first captured my interest when I scanned the first YouTube video comments I was stunned. What did this say about the public mood?
Did it align with the anti establishment populist Trump movement. Burn it to the ground. Angry America
Now that Luigi is captured where are we at? America generally hates losers. Getting caught is weak sauce
My social media game is very poor - how can we measure?
I don't see anyone mad at actual health care professionals. I don't see any negativity towards doctors or nurses or anyone else who is actually a health care provider. This is an insurance company.
I have no idea with this kid? A dead parent is a better story than a back problem, however crippling those may be. He seems to have come from wealth. There are all kinds of people with stories who would be a better defendant unless there is more to the story. I see a mixed bag of reactions and they aren't really necessarily strictly political team sports.
I would posit the more you have dealt with a health insurance company over a serious issue the less you care about this CEO because you recall a time when they clearly didn't give a fuck about you or your loved ones and thrust you into an endless loop of bullshit all with the clear motive to wear you down or outlast you.
