I made a couple of posts about this yesterday that got lost in the mess that is this thread but whats going on its more complex than Nazis vs the good guys. You have the Far Right (Alt-Right) fighting the Far Left (AntiFa) on the streets it's literally Nazi's vs Communists all over again. I've got no idea how bad things are going to get but it's certainly escalating and events like this just create more extremists on both sides.
I agree I'm sure there were plenty of regular people there who just came to protest the Nazis which is obv a good thing but unfortunately I think many of these regular people don't realize the dangers of Communism or have a clue about how history is repeating itself. I've seen pics of people on the far left flying Communist flags but this doesn't get looked upon with the same disgust as those who fly the Nazi flag.

Unfortunately this is a perfect example of an attitude that is becoming more common on the far left, in that anyone who isnt quite as far to the left or that disagrees in any way is labeled as alt-right and therefore an enemy and not worth talking to.

Old guard communists have existed since Soviet Union. For the last 100 years they've been in constant decline. George Orwell used to be one of them. After seeing what had happened with the great socialist utopian experiment he wrote Animal Farm and 1984. There are very few socialists left that think any form of totalitarianism is acceptable in the western world. I don't think same can be said of the far-right.
Very few socialists idolize Stalin. This is obviously not the case with neo-nazies and Hitler.
I've literally never heard of an Antifa member that had a favorable view of USSR and Stalin. They are neither political nor nostalgic in that way. They don't really have a unified view of anything besides their dislike of fascists. Most of them do share some anarchistic, anti-capitalistic and anti-government views. Incidentally very few people on the left share any of those views.
Since the 1980s Antifa (or AFA/ARA ect.) have been fairly good in avoiding civilian casualties. Far-right on the other hand has targeted civilians and have gone as far as murdering children. Easiest way to avoid being targeted by antifa is to stop carrying a flag and denounce your old ways. If the far-right targets you, there's really nothing you can do most of the time. It had nothing to do with your actions. It was always about who you are.
Regarding being labeled as far-right i don't even consider most of the current militia goons as part of the far-right movement. I don't necessarily think they are sane, but there's too much proper scum to be worried about them.
